Hi I am writing this via my phone atm since my np2090 has just died, atleast I think so.
Right now, if I switch it on I can hear the fan going and the lights start to blink normaly. But the screen is completely black and nothing shows up. Not even the BIOS etc.
    Is my laptop dead?

Update: I have noticed that if I wait awhile after pressing the on button, the laptop doesn't seem like it's on fully since it just switches off instantly after I press the off button and sounds like the power has just be cut off.

I am running vista HM but not sure which SP. And I have not installed any 3rd party weird software recently just l4d2 via steam.

There could be a number of causes. The first thing that comes to mind is a bad memory stick. You could try reseating them or trying out another stick.

Also, something could be wrong with the screen if you say everything else works, so you could also try an external monitor. If that doesn't work it might be motherboard or GPU problem.
