I'm looking to configure an NP2090 for max performance. Here are my specs:

T7300 (I really can't justify the extra money for .4 GHz)
    2 gigs RAM (2 sticks)
    7200 RPM 100 gig HD
    Turbo Memory

My main concerns are with the turbo memory and the HD. First, is the turbo memory really worth the "boost?" I've heard that it could actually decrease performance. I'm thinking that it could turn out to be a good thing though. And the HD-I know 7200 is better in almost any case, but does it matter what size the HD is? My research has led me to believe that the bigger the drive the more dense, therefore, the faster the drive. Is this true?

Right now there are mixed opinions on Turbo Memory. I would think that it would provide some sort of performance boost regardless of the amount of RAM you have installed. However, I've refrained from offering an opinion on Turbo Memory thus far because I haven't used it. The laptop I have on order has a 1GB Turbo Memory module in it so when that gets here I'll post some impressions.

From what I've read on the Turbo memory is that it's best if you don't have it in your system if your also booting Windows XP as it can cause some nasty errors. Just a word of warning if you get it and are planning on installing XP again. Personally, I would not use it if I had 1+GB system RAM already.

Turbo memory is meant for Vista, it should not even be offered with XP installed.
I"m not entirely sure what you mean by speed though. Because i think turbo memory was only EVER meant to decrease loading times. Or are you talking about speed as in computer goodness.

I think you're ok with or without turbo memory for now. It doesnt cost much and if its not doing the job you just take it out. If it gets proven later on to be a benefit, you order it then. Either way the decision isnt too crucial. If it fits in your budget you may as well get it.

I've been looking into as well, and generally it seems to be 50/50 as to whether it helps or not, so who knows. sco fri had it right though, it's only 40$ or so, therefore meaning you can get it now or get it later.(About the Robson turbo memory that is)

Generally speaking it all looks good, another thing you could consider is getting one 2GB stick, so you can upgrade to a total of 4gb later.

As for your hard drive, I can't say I know too much about it being more dense making it faster. Unless it's a solid state HDD, which I highly doubt it is, you would know. Generally the HDD space you have, the longer it takes to look for something(or seek rather, as it's called technically) Either way remember that a good monthly, or even weekly defragment, will keep teh HDD and computer overall working(loading) faster.
