I'm wondering if there is any Canadian company besides Eurocom that carries the NP5790. Eurocom is more expensive than any US distributor I have found and that is after duty, taxes, shipping, and the exchange. Its not a small difference either it is close to $300 CAD or more.

So simply put, is there another Canadian distributor who is located in Canada that sells the NP5790.

Also the same question as above about the NP2090.

    Thanks

Don't think they have it yet but they have the NP5790 and its alot more after everything is said and done. Buying it from a US distributor would be much cheaper.

I've talked to a few retailers, they're willing to give discounts on their laptops for us Canadians... however, they don't know the exact price w/ duty and taxes.

With my previous purchases that was all I had to pay. I've experienced duty can range anywhere from 10-25%.

I didn't have to pay PST as it wasn't a provincial purchase and they had no right to collect. I assume that is what the duty goes to cover but I'm not all that certain its just guess work there

If you could be so kind as to tell me the retailers that you know of that will discount us Canadians I would be very grateful. Also how much of a discount are we talking about, and is it enough to help make the duty less painful? Thats my biggest issue is paying the duty. I have to pay the GST whether I buy here or not.

    Thanks

I'm dying to know as well... 200-300$ duty would really break my back.

Well... I first contacted Frank Chu from SagerNotebooks.com
2090-V standard but w/ Bluetooth, Vista Home Premium, and 3 year warranty for $1580 CDN
But in case of problem, i'd need to pay shipping both way for warranty stuff
Justin from the forums and Xotic offered to match this as well as paying for 1 way of the shipping. I've also heard Xotic's service is much better.
The shipping, i've heard, would be around $50CDN for the standard service.

I'm gonna try to get it even lower... if possible. Haven't asked them about student discounts at all ^_^. If any of you got a cheaper price, please do tell.

Well if this is true, I am certainly buying from Xotic. I'm just trying to put it off now untill the super clear glare screen is released with the higher resolution. I do need it before September though, but hopefully it will be released by mid August, and will be shipping at that time as well.

Ok, for shipping into Canada... if you live near the US border, or know someone who does, I suggest getting it shipped to a depot nearby. If you live in the Lower Mainland in B.C., there are places such as Package Express which will accept your shipment and charge $3.00/month for laptop holding. There are probably places such as these all over the border, or if you have family/friends in the U.S. just ship to them. This can save you $20-30
