I was considering purchasing the NP5135. I had a few questions for anyone who is familiar with the model.

    1) If I get the 1080p screen, I may still want to play games in lower resolutions (to better accomodate the Geforce 425M). If I intend to do that, will they still look good at non-native resolution, or would I be better off with the lower resolution screen.

    2) What resolution is best for playing games on the 425M?

    3) How is the quality of the 1080P screen?

    4) How is the build quality? Sager/Clevo laptops, I had heard, are pretty well-builty, but I have never had one. Is this particular model well-built?

    Thanks.

I am also considering the 5135 since it's one of the few laptops with a hi-res screen. Here's some of my concerns:

    5) What's the main differences between the 5125 and 5135? Is the build quality the same?

    6) How is the sound quality of the speakers?

I have the older model :( NP5125 i just got it this week and i couldn't be happier.

    1. im not a big gamer but i would bet they would look they same or maybe even better on the FHD im just guessing i could be wrong.

    2. I don't know guess depends on how graphics intensive the game is.

    3. one word AWESOME. It is best screen i have ever seen. it is like the macbook pro screen..it is beautiful great colors, very bright even on the lowest screen brightness. worth the $60 no question about it

    4. It is built like a rock..it is plastic but it's hard like aluminum and looks like it also. The chasis is solid so weird noises..some complaints about flex on the lid but IMO you have to press extremely hard to get it to flex..solid lines no big gaps like a lexus.

    5. there are 3 diffrences. webcam is now 2.0 megpixel. it has the new core-i5460. and the GPU the old one was the 330m..

    6. only downside is the speakers they are mediocre. but with headphones its not problems...

Give some serious thought to this it is best moneys worth..

Many, many users are happy with the build quality as seen in the Sager NP5125 Owners thread. The 5135 has the same build quality. The 425M video card has just come out so not many have it yet. Very soon there will be a review of it. The 1080p screen is very nice. The main difference between the 5125 and 5135 is the 5135 has the new 425M nVidia card and the 5125 has the 330M.... :)

Read through this thread for some opinions on non-native resolutions. I think the general consensus is non-native resolution produces an inferior picture because of upscaling, but personally I don't notice the difference.

Probably less than 1920x1080 and closer to 1280x720. The nvidia 425m is just a mid mid-range card.

Quite good. (I might be the only person who thinks it's way too bright.)

NBR gave it a bad review, but most owners like it.

Same exact notebook except the np5135 has an upgraded webcam, upgraded nvidia gpu (330m -> 425m), and upgraded choice of intel i5 cpu's (450m -> 460m, 520m -> 560m, 540m -> 580m). The change in model also came with a $20 price drop.

Terrible. But who uses built-in laptop speakers?

Thanks for the replies! Is the lower res screen also good quality, like the 1080p one? I very well may get the 1080p one, but, on the other hand, my current laptop is 1280x800, so the standard resolution would be similar.

I think the upgrade to 1080p is very much worth the $60. You're basically getting double the number of pixels from the 768p.

As far as gaming is concerned, if you're playing FPS/RTS, I really doubt you'll notice much difference when you play at lower resolutions because you're really paying attention to the game.

The 1080p still looks great at lower resolutions.
This screen is superior to others. The up scaling is the best I've seen.
Though personally, I had the FHD, and I'm going with the HD screen this time.
I didn't get off on the higher resolution, and it just got in the way of some things (like programs that don't scale well with windows 7 increase/decrease picture size function).

Also, my speakers were more than loud enough. I had to turn up the equalizer to max, though. But after that, in any given program, half volume was more than enough.
Without the equalizer setting though, woo! They were terribly low.

    Hi Guys:

I've been using an HP DV6TSE recently but have been disappointed by the keyboard, idiotic trackpad and the low screen resolution. How is the battery life on the NP 5135? I get over four hours on my HP (web browing and office apps), does the Sager have equal battery life?

This Sager is one of the few notebooks that has offers bluray and a hi-res screen. Also how does the Nvidia 425 compare to the ATI 5650?

From the pictures, the sager appears much thicker than my HP, are the dimensions similar or is the Sager substantially thicker?

    Thanks,
    Claude

I'm looking to buy this notebook the end of December.
I've never owned a sager before. How is their quality compared to Asus or Dell?

Also, will this laptop be capable of running Crysis on med-high settings? Does anyone have any benchmarks available for this notebook? I made this thread recently. Can someone please take a look at it and tell me if the NP5135 fulfills these qualities?

    Thank you!

(Also, if I buy this notebook without an OS, how functional will it be (i.e. all the buttons on the notebook) if I install my own copy? I have my own copy of Win7 and I love how Xotic PC offers just a HDD. This really saves money.

And can anyone point me to a review for this notebook? Do any exist?
