This is my first time working with Sager, I am interested in purchasing a mid range laptop for computing, gaming and lots of durability. I saw the NP5160 and found it to be within my price range. Any recommendations/tips/warnings before I pre-order this particular laptop?
Also, there are many third party sites such as DigitalStorm ( Digital Storm xm15 Level 1 (15.6 Inch Laptop)) that do sell the same Sager model but for $20 dollars more. But I believe they also keep the shell clean and without the Sager emblem on the device.
Do you guys recommend buying from Sager themselves or from a third party site?
Thank you so much!

Often times, the recommendation is to go with a reseller or builder aside from Sager themselves on this forum. I hear that the reseller are much better in terms of customer support and warranty issues if any arise.
From a personal stand-point, I would go with another reseller/builder like XoticPC or Mythlogic.
One advantage will be the option to add a 1080P screen, although the graphics card probably will not be powerful enough to run games at these resolution, 1080P screen will be great for running movies and general use.
Furthermore, it may come out cheaper if you already have an OS because there will be an option to send the laptop without one.
As for the logo removal, I believe I read somewhere that these companies will work with you on this upon request and probably a fee. -
Hey,
Yea we would be glad to help you with any questions you have or get you a quote. Just shoot us a PM or an email and we'll be glad to help. I personally carry around the 1st gen Core model of this laptop and I love it, great mix of business and pleasure =)

How is the build quality on these types of Sager laptops? I have had very bad experiences with laptops that die after barely one year of use. I am hoping that I will finally settle my doubts about the reliability of laptops in general.
Anyone had any experiences with this brand in the past?
Thanks guys. -
I have had my fair share of terrible build quality for laptops... From a Lenovo that died in less than a year to HP that lasted a while longer, but departed recently.
When I receive it, I think I will open up the laptop and take some internal pictures, so people can have an idea on what to expect for workmanship and I expect to review how it feels.
As a side note, Mythlogic's base price was higher than most I saw, but they have been very helpful through their online chats with me and through their posts that they make here. Through these conversations, I felt like they take pride in their build quality, so I figured I'm just paying for quality.
We'll see when my laptop arrives hopefully soonish. -
