    NP5175
    Series Notebook

The specs looks incredible... business looks and gaming juice (555M) and can be configured to include a SSD for about $2k USD and under 7 pounds including the power brick!

Jumping on this save a couple concerns...

I was wondering if anyone has experience with "pre-ordering" and the typical wait times. I don't see anywhere with any promise of a ship date.

Also I was wondering if Sager is like a domestic car...as in wait for the bleeding edge of a new release to be worked through. (luckily in laptops its not a model year but probably a month or two)

    Any feedback is appreciated.

Sager is pretty good with new models. The current ETA on those is early May, and they're pretty good about their dates. Of course nothing is ever guaranteed until stock is in hand.

Just a heads up dont expect amazing gaming performance from the 555M. It will be a bump over the 540M but wont be close to the performance from a GTX 460M. The 555M is a entry/mid level gpu, made to give better performance over just an integrated card but its not one made for high end gaming.

If you're looking for a portable 17.3" that will give good battery life and mid level graphics then its the perfect fit

Thanks... maybe out of thread but I remain in search of my perfect laptop and thought I found it with the NP5175.

I intend on using the machine for extensive travel so weight is a consideration (limiting myself to 7 pounds with brick) and it's got to pass muster in a professional environment (no alienware...besides I like the minimalist approach).

Your advice suggest a 460M+ GPU but every one seems to come with a pretty substantial weight disadvantage. I work in some pretty boring towns and the gaming ability of the unit is a big bonus to passing time (including Crysis 2). So is a big screen so I can sit back and watch netflix without being tied to a desk (in 1080p please).

Price is not a consideration, timing is flexible (though before mid May would be great), I wouldnt flatly reject a 15.6 but want native 1080p, warranty/reputation of support is though (My overheating/downclocking Dell XPS 1647 is what I am replacing). SSD, USB 3.0, HDMI, decent internal wireless card, and backlit keyboard are all must. Oh - one last thing...I have a portable optical drive and could care less if it had one. Waste of space and probably obsolete soon enough.

maybe the 5165? if you game alot, especially intensive games, then yeah a 460/560 is probably what you want but you'll be hard pressed to get the right weight. and again hard pressed to find a backlit keyboard without a flashy laptop. you could see what asus has to offer.

Anytime you get the gtx460M the computer will weigh more. More power equals more heat equals bigger chassis for proper cooling. If you want this computer more for travel and light/mid gaming while in your hotels and such then its will work. It will still play new games, you'll just had to set settings a little lower. You'll have to decide what will bother you more, the extra weight of a computer with a GTX 460M or the lower performance of the NP5175.

You mentioned 15.6" could work, look at the NP8130, with everything you mentioned considered it would be fill the bill except the backlit keyboard, which the NP5175 doesn't have either, no Sager models currently have one
