Which Vista version are you using?

if the vents are where the hot air comes out, it's on the back of the laptop where most of the ports and connections are.

if you talking about the fans that suck in air, they are on the bottom top-left corner.

but either way you can put it on your lap without blocking anything.

EDIT:my video that is coming in...16 minutes or so will clear some things up for you hopefully.

it actually came with the laptop, the protector is on any part of the laptop that can get fingerprints or scratches on it.

There are 3 pieces at first...one on the screen, one on the back panel, and a small one somewhere that I don't know how to explain lol, sorry.

    EDIT:here your microphone test video.

Damn! Megaupload tells me I just exceeded my download limit after I downloaded your 100MB video... Looks like I need to wait another 251 minutes before I can download again... oh well...

EDIT: got another question: if I use the laptop on my desk with power plugged in most of the time, should I take out the battery or should I keep it inside the laptop?

Great videos Lawls! Interesting to see what it looks like underneath the hood.

I'm actually wondering the same thing. I was planning to do that at first, until I realized that the back left "foot" is attached to the battery. When you take it out, the laptop sits crooked and can rock back and forth diagonally. I guess you could put something underneath to hold it up...

I've just been keeping the battery in, but I unplug the AC connector at night when I'm not using it.

i'm pretty sure it's ok to keep the battery in.

I recall gophn saying that if you want to keep the AC connector in you should fully charge the battery then unplug it and let it use up about 10-15 percent and you can plug it back in. Let me try to find that link.

hmm... I remember reading somewhere that if you keep the battery in there all the time when using AC power then the battery will die quicker. I wonder what can I put underneath there to hold it up...

    quote directly from gophn:

''Remember these things to have your notebook be healthy for years:

    1) Battery: to maintain the longevity of any rechargeable battery
    - you must NEVER overcharge it [especially for long durations of time] by keeping it plugged into AC
    - when it reaches 100% you should unplug it and let it discharge to 5-15%, then plug it back to power
    - OR you can just charge it to 50%+ and remove the battery and store in cool place [remember to use it occasionally to charge and discharge it].

2.) Heat: to prevent a healthy notebook from overheating
    - ALWAYS use the notebook on a hard & flat surface
    - RECOMMENDED to be used on a notebook cooler... namely the Zalman ZM-NC1000
    - check your fans underneath occasionally (at least once a month) for any dust clogs [clean them out with Q-tips and air cans/compressors]
    - ALWAYS monitor the temps (CPU, GPU, HDD, etc..) to watch for fluctuations, which would indicate overheating

By doing these simple things, your entire system will easily last for more than 3 years.''

So after it reaches 100% you need to unplug and discharge 5-15% and then plug it in again and keep doing that? Feels very troublesome to me... Coz that means you need to keep unpluging and pluging in the power cable for every few minutes?

you can bypass Megaupload's download limit (as well as other file space sites... rapidshare) by...

    using proxy.

I do it all the time :)

I am downloading the video now... at my GF's house (with craptacular cheap DSL/Cable... so slow) :)

Since you are accepting requests: can you make one where you boot the laptop, to give us an idea of boot time, start up and use a few applications, and play some games? To give an idea of performance.

Sweet! :) It sounded a bit soft imo but I guess it's acceptable...
Did you mean only unpluging the power once? So after you let the battery discharge 5-15% you need to plug the power back in, and it will automatically charges to battery to 100%, then don't you need to let it discharge 5-15% again (by unpluging the power)?

How do you use proxy to bypass it? I really have no idea...

You could use video editing software to cut out the un-necessary sections and also compress it for smaller downloads and uploading on youtube.

To bypass using proxy, get a Proxy Finder (like here)... choose un-verified and your location, and search.

Then with the ones that come up, insert them into your browsers Proxy settings.

    (for Firefox):
    - Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Settings
    - then choose Manual Proxy Configuration and insert the proxy address that you got and the port number

    And then start browsing. :)

If it works, megaupload should not know that you have reached your limit, since it will think that you are on another computer. :D

It has DVI out. DVI is essentially HDMI without the audio. A DVI to HDMI cable is all you need to hook it up to an HDMI enabled TV. One caveat, the TV or monitor must have the type of HDMI input that can accept DVI to HDMI cable input. Nearly all do. And It's usually the 2nd HDMI port on the TV or Monitor.
