could anyone possibly compare these two set-ups for me? i am looking for overall the most fast computer - from playing games to multi-tasking

    NP5790:
    Core 2 Duo T7300 2.0GHz
    512MB GeForce 7950 GTX
    2,048MB DDR2 (2 SODIMMS)
    100GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive

    vs

    NP2090:
    Core 2 Duo T7700 2.4GHz
    512MB GeForce 8600GT
    4,096MB DDR2
    1GB Intel Robson Turbo Memory
    160GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive

so i guess the question is: is the 7950GTX enough better than the 8600GT to make up for .4GHz of processor speed, 2GB of RAM, 60GB of hard drive space, and the extra Robson Turbo Memory?

I already know only vista can run 4GB of RAM, etc. but anything else i'm overlooking please let me know, i will likely be running vista on whatever computer i choose... thanks a lot

The processor speed is irrelevant in this case, both processors a very fast and won't be a bottleneck in your lappy. Now that 8600GT, eventhought it is DX10, it is much, much weaker than 7950GTX and will struggle to play upcomming games on max settings and is your bottleneck. Now the question is, do you really want all that eyecandy of 8600GT in DX10 assuming you can get decent settings or a cheer power of 7950GTX eventhough in the DX9.

The 160HD 5600rpm is on par with 100HD 7200rpm, perhaps just a notch slower, but really not a significan difference. Btw, only 64bit vista can address all of 4gb of RAM, premium can only see about 3.4gb.

Intel Robson turbo is irrelevant for loptops with more than 1g of RAM and only helps to lappies with 1/2 a gig.

the 7950GTX outperforms the 8600M GT by 20-30%.

The 8600M GT may have DX10 eye-candy, but the 7950GTX has much more raw 3D power and longevity.

Another thing to consider is the Clevo M570RU (Sager 5790) is:
    - it has an interchangeable MXM videocard
    - the 8700M GT will be out for it soon (by Fall)
-- it is about par with the 7900GTX/7950GTX.. but with DX10 :)
    - the 8800M should appear by Winter
