Hi, I too just got my NP5790 today, and it seems like quite the solid machine. One thing troubles me however, and that it seems that when I plug the power cable into the back of my laptop, the temperatures on my CPU seem to jump about 20 degrees, and then of course, continue to climb until my laptop shuts off.
I was hoping someone might know what's going on!
Thanks in advance for any/all help![]()

Welcome to the NBR forums
.... for asking about problems.
Make sure that the Power Options is set to Portable/Laptop Scheme.
And make sure that you are using the notebook on a cool, flat surface (or preferably a notebook cooler).... because any blockage of the vents or fans on the bottom will cause heating problems. -
I switched the power settings from high performance to power saver, and the heat problems went away when I plugged in the power, but I'm a little confused as to why the computer only had problems with the power cord plugged, even though it was in high performance mode regardless of whether or not the power cord was plugged in.

when the power is plugged in, it switches to max speed on the CPU... forcing the full speed to be on 100% of the time... which is not needed.
It should be set to portable to dynamically switch the speeds when its needed... to prevent heat and power draw.
Another thing that I would suggest...
- check if the CPU and the cooling for it is secured
