How often are you using your desktop?

If your laptop is going to be your primary machine, I'd consider using Remote Desktop for your desktop.

As far as directly connecting your desktop to your 5792, I don't know... sorry.

Just a heads up, with this, you'd only be able to access the desktop with your 5792 or another XP computer. You wouldn't be able to use the desktops' keyboard and mouse.

Like I said, this would be useful if no one other then you uses the machine. I have a WinXP machine at home that acts as my 'catch-all' computer for my video files and other important junk. Since I don't use it as a 'internet-using, e-mail checking, gaming' computer, I don't need it for anything other than storage.

You can get a custom controller board that can accept a VGA or DVI signal and power the LCD over LVDS. But I don't think you want to go to that kind of trouble.
You will need to know the model number of your LCD and have a nice picture of the connector on it for starters.
