Can someone please comment on the build quality of the NP5792? I know the NP5793 is coming out but if I'm not mistaken the build quality should be no different. There seem to be no reviews of the notebook =[

579x are all the same...Build quality is impressive, solid and reliable. Little to no flex of the keyboard. Solid feel to all of it. Nice strong hinges to keep the laptop closed. Great feeling when touching both the back and th front (I don`t know the materials but they`ve got a nice sensation),little to no printmarks...just be sure to keep it clean...No complaints in the build quality whatsoever, this laptop is quite a looker

It feels like a tank imo. Its great!
-
A Toughbook is a tank, this one is a reinforced car.
-
There isn't any problems with fingermarks sticking on it?
-
Yes, there is a bit since the top is metal. But it can easily be cleaned.
-
How would the build quality compare to (say) Dell, Lenovo, Asus, HP? For those who've seen/used both a 5792 and one of these brands - which has better build quality?
-
I had a dell 1720 before my 5792, and I have to say the 5792 sturdiness and overall feel is vastly superior.
like i said i feel like the 5792 is a rock, idestructable. it seems like a really strong, sturdy quality build. -
My 5793 should arrive today, this will be my 3rd Sager, I keep each for a bit over 2 years. I've been VERY satisfied with the quality of all of them. The first I sold the first to a friend and he still uses it. I replaced the keyboard when I sold it, otherwise it's still in perfect shape with all original components.
I have complete faith that the 5793 will be of equal or higher quality and that it too will last far past warranty. -
Dells are not laptops... The Precision series can be called real laptops, but overall Dell makes toys!
The Sager may compare to only a Sager. It is somewhere in the same class as a ThinkPad, but not close.
The Sager can be compared to a HP business series in my opinion. Not as great built as a ThinkPad, but not as bad as an ASUS or Dell (cheap plastic, flex and such).
TheFrawg, 5793 is just a name. The actual notebook is Clevo M571RU-U. That is the standard M571RU with the possibility of having a 8800M GTX card and extreme Intel CPUs (X7900/X7800). That's about it. The casing is modified at the back to allow better air flow, but it is only available with either those two or one of them. You can't get it without a 8800M GTX or X CPU. -
its a good machine but like every other laptop... if they fall on the ground it broke
-
Someone go test it out. (heheheh) -
-
It's close to the HP bussiness class laptop, as Fade To Black said, I know that since I also have an Hp nx9420
Whic is still awesome...has a huge 3 h battery life,17 inch screen and very very sturdy. Altough my sager is a tad heavier, the robustness makes up for the extra weight and give a feeling of togetherness...And as I said, it looks awesome, just look at the profile pictures...and you gotta love that trim!
Also the touchpad is solid, not like a dell toy, my gf has a dell 1501 and that thing is a like a little mini laptop mouse-alike compared to my 5791...and the screen is probably one of its best features...( the WUXGA)
-
well...
Hows falling 6 inches in air and no damage whatsoever good build quality 4 you lol? -
I love my nx9420, but need a new laptop soon so I've been planning on the 5793/M57RU (Penryn) from Eurocom.
Could you compare the fan noise between the two laptops? My nx9420 is exceptionally quiet during casual use, but I wonder how the 'noisy' Clevo compares to the HP when the HP's fan kicks in (gaming). This is my only point of reference -- I can't trust web videos of fan noise.
What are your thoughts? How do they compare?
Much appreciated. -

im hoping to get my 5792 today and i'm planning a bunch of reference tests that everyone can relate to. maybe that will help? -
My HPnx9420 is the quietest 17 inch laptop I`ve seen...it`s the one I use for school , projects and such, and I use this because it`s far less heavy than the 5791, far better build quality since it`s a bussiness class, has a very good performance for a portable laptop : 1.7 Core Duo, 256 ddr2/128 bit x1600 dedicated GPU, 17 inch screen, ~3 h of battery on minimal power settings and screen close to low...and among the best touchpad+buttons I`ve seen...The only downside, get warmish when gaming or running it on the lap. That`s something I don`t do anymore , but when I touch it, it feels warm , even of the upper side. But veeeeery bareable, and could not disturb at all.
On the other hand ,the 5791 is MUCH cooler, runs veeery cool compared to the HP,the only thing that feels warmish is the HDD, appart from that the thing is pretty much cold on touch. However, much heavier, bulkier, and LOUDER than the HP. Even when NOT gaming, the gpu fan still kicks in full blast, and it`s damn noisy too . Gaming noise, could say it`s louder than the HP, but the HP is also pretty loud when gaming, with just 1 fan having to put up with the heat...I`ve played NFS Carbon and boy was that fan screaming on the HP...On the 5791 same pattern,no sign of struggling wih heat, Weeeeeel under control.
I love my ~2 years Hp because it still rocks and I can use it for mobility purposes better than the 5791,costed 1000 bucks when I bought it and because I kept it in top shape, I have offers of 800 $ for it.I`m proud of it, was my first laptop, battery still is awesome after 2 years,so the 5791 will have some serious competition in terms of durability and reliability.
But the 5791 wipes the floor with the HP in everything but noise and mobility..
If you want any other details, just ask me,I`d be more than happy to share my insights on these 2 laptops. -
I'll bug you in PM rather than derail the thread anymore.
Cheers. -
The 579x is a bit of a fingerprint magnet, but the build of the machine is excellent.
-
Ditto on the fingerprint magnet thing. Tends to get all messy if you let people touch it, but it cleans just as fast...
-
I like consistency. -
yay mine finally shipped and will be here wednesday. can't wait after reading most of these threads.
