if you contact your vendor, you can ask for it.

Most vendors should not have an issue getting you this LCD panel. You might need to specify which model panel it is if the vendor asks.

I don't know about that, I've asked this very question of many vendors and the response is always "No.". However, you CAN get a matte screen re-polarized for around $100 --

It looks like this is what I'm going to end up doing. I like the glossy, but I prefer 1680x1050 native resolution for gaming, even on an 8800.

so why isn't this option available? I'd think it would be the most popular configuration. Unless its out of stock or something.

I would have to guess its a supply issue. Its a shame because a step up is too small for me to see without straining.

I thought this was a 'supply issue' from several months ago. Are they still having issues being able to get people either a matte or a glossy?

I got the 1920x1200 screen because of the full HD experience and lots of desktop space. It was well worth the upgrade, the screen is bright, clear and beautiful :D

That`s why Vista has an increase DPI option.
Right click on desktop, personalization, and on the left side there is "adjust DPI"
    Mine is set at 113.
Also ,when on desktop or on a webpage, hold ctrl and use wheelUP and wheelDown and see the effect :)

You can still use the lower resolution on the 1920x1200 screen. Just because the screen will run at the high resolution doesn't mean you have to use it. I would also like to think that they use a bit better quality screen on the 1920x1200. i have heard it's gorgeous, and you can get the glossy screen you want.

Sager is currently accepting pre-orders on NP5792 systems with either the matte WSXGA+ (1680x1050) or the glossy WUXGA (1920x1200) screens. As far as we know, there is no delayed shipping with either one.

Err you sure about that? Isn't it the other way around? 1920x1200 glossy and 1680x1050 matte?

I think it`s the other way around. I know for a fact that WUXGA 1920x1200 is glossy...

I had concerns about going to a 1920x1200 screen and now that I have it I would not change it. I have to increase text at times but it has so much more room to work with and it is absolutely gorgeous. I am actually I glad I took someone else's advice on getting it.

I would like a lower resolution glossy as well. My current rig is 1920x1200 and while I have no problems reading text or anything with no resizing it became an issue as the system aged and I wanted to play newer games at native resolution. I told myself I would get my next laptop with a lower resolution just to extend it's gaming life a bit since I tend to only get a new one very 4 years.

The fact of the matter is that you can lower the resolution to fit your needs.
1920x1200 is 16:10 aspect ratio, so if you want to keep aspect intact, find a resolution that keeps that aspect ratio, one like 1440x900 or 1680x1050 (or whichever is in the list for these ones).
I would never buy another Matte screen EVER.

Of course you can manually lower the resolution, but in my experience this noticably softens everything the further you get away from native. Perhaps the newer screens handle it better I don't know.
