I am the proud new owner of a Sager NP5793/Clevo M570RU-U from Powernotebooks.com! Everything is working perfectly right out of the box, no dead pixels at all that I can find (1920x1200) and I've just finished updating Windows Vista (First time I've used it) and setting up everything the way I like it and installing my games. Big thanks to Paladin44/Donald for helping me out. This is a superb piece of machinery. =)

Edit: Specs are in my new signature if anyone is curious

Haha thank you very much sir. So far I am using stock drivers for everything, but I've heard there are some things I should change like VBIOS and stuff like that. I don't really know anything about those though. Could anyone tell me what exactly VBIOS are as opposed to drivers and regular BIOS?

Looks like you have the same specs I got! Almost, I opted for the 160gb 7200Rpm drive though. Yeah, it's a a HUGE upgrade for me, my old lappy could WoW at about 20fps max!

I'm also wondering what whould be the best drivers to use and what is the difference between normal BIOS and VBIOS? I have the 8800m GTX.

Well, the 175.80 drivers from lv2g are holding up well for most people. You shouldn't need to update your vbios (video bios, the settings on the actual video card) unless you have any downclocking problems. I believe all the problems have been fixed anyway on the new cards and the new system bios (1.00.08).

If you haven't already got it then the fan firmware version 1.00.07sh is worth getting - it stops the fans ramping and gives the user control over them. you can see what system bios and KBC/EC firmware (often known as fan firmware) you have by enabling the boot time diagnostic screen in the bios.

Thank you very much theriko. Yes my system has come with the upgraded fan firmware to control the fan speeds. I'm not sure about downclocking though...how can I tell if I am downclocking?

if you update the Nvidia graphics drivers from Laptopvideo2go and notice a decrease in performance use 3dmark06 it's free, and possibly the easiest way to test for downclock. http://www.futuremark.com/products/3dmark06/

    Heres how.
1ST run a 3dmark06 test with your current drivers write down your score and keep it in a safe place.

2ND go to laptopvideo2go pick a driver follow the directions to uninstall the old driver and how to install the new one. ( a clean install of drivers is always reccommended so make sure you read the instructions on how to install and uninstall drivers)

3RD once the new drivers are installed run 3dmark06 again and write down your score compare it to the original graphic driver score. Do you notice a HUGE difference with the new VS old? If you do try another driver if the same thing happens could be a possible down clock.
