My frames are not that great in GTA IV usually around 25-35 on medium and low resolutions (I'm running 5793 with 8800M GTX, 4GB Ram, Vista X64, T9300 2.5 ghz). I think the game is patched (I extracted the GTA4 patch to the main folder from filefront but how can I verify the version of the game?)

Also I'm running 177.79, should I go for DOX 180.84 1.1 or 181 or any other driver that you can think of? I just need advice on what I can do specifically with this system to get my frame rate a bit higher so its a bit smoother.

    Thanks so much!

u should be content with your frames... im running 9800m GT with dog 180.84 at 1680x1050 at 15-20 fps... all defult settings medium text high render rest def..

It feels less laggy than the 360 / Pc version so im content..

if you not having GFX issues i wouldnt worrie about drivers 2 much... and yer i would bump up the resolution and see it have little effect on Fps..

this game is all about CPU regardless of what rockstars settings scaling sistem will tell you... a 3gig + quadcore is what is needed... the game needs 3 cpus to run well..

WTB quadcore in my m860tu now <_<

Thanks to the OP there! :)

btw this small tweak helped me a lot!! i got a serious 10 fps jump from the usual 15-20 i used to get before!! though there r some missing textures! :(

but, at least the game is playable now! :)

Sohail99 thanks! I definitely did get a frame boost from that file!

How is dox 180.84 running with 9800M GT HeathKidd? Should I update from 177.79?

its the only drivers ive tryed that textures work.. so i dont know... going to try commandline.txt now.. hummm hope it doesnt conflict with the 800x600 shadowmat tweak.

humm doesnt work with the GTAforums 'ultimate tweak'... hummm

humm this tweak gave me horible popins and traffic not loading nearly as much...

would rather actualy play the game than sacrifice content :p even if i loose 5-10 fps

Naticus just be warned your notebook will not run GTA IV at what your used to for most games. Be prepared for FPS to frequently glide into the low 20's. Especially because of your CPU clock.

ive fiddled with so many settings it really is just simply CPU... going to try overclocing mine to 3gigs.. hummm... at the end of the day u need 3x3gig CPus to run this game at max <_<

and 1gig of video mem (for high text)

    im getting 15-20-25fps with a quadcore i would be getting 30-35-40.... :(
