    Hey,

I have owned a Sager NP5793 for about 8 months now, with the 9800M GTS. I started dual-booting with Windows 7 RC about two months ago, but haven't really been doing much gaming whilst in 7.

Recently I've been playing more fullscreen 3D games - Half-Life 2/source engine stuff, World of Warcraft and other fairly (but not overly) demanding games. After playing for between half an hour and an hour the laptop will just immediately hard power off. The only noticeable thing is that the patch in the top right above the keyboard is hot to the touch, hence why I have assumed it was overheating - I guessed this was the GPU.

Because I've had no similar issues when playing in Vista, I assumed this is a 7 problem, but has anyone had any similar problems? I'd really appreciate any help!

Well you can only be sure by installing Vista again and monitoring the temps..

Your laptop may just need a good clean also, or some of the fans or heatsinks may be failing..

have you cleaned out the fans with a can of compressed air.this is recommended every 6 months and some people do it more regulary.

download HW Monitor HERE and post a screen shot to give us a better idea on what we could suggest to do.

I tried it in vista, did the same overheating thing - using HWMonitor, the GPU temps seem to reach about 100 degrees before the shut off - I'll post the log, though the other temperatures look normal.

It could just be a fan issue, I'll attempt to clean them - would a vacuum work as well as compressed air (as its easier to come by :p)?

Log: Didn't realise the log was this big! Important bits follow:
GPU idles at 45-50 degrees, cpu temps idle at 30, load at 40, everything else looks fine.
