yes mine does it too. you should get it replaced if you are under warranty. it is extremely loud and makes it no matter what cd is in there. sometimes it does not make the noise but most of the time it does. i tried re-seating the drive but no good.

but mine only noise with WiC

It could just be a twisted coincidence, so yeah take ARGH's advice and call tech support- get that drive replaced.
-
You might also check to see if the drive's properly fastened into the case - on my vaio, the first time I opened it up, I discovered about four or five missing screws (lord knows where they went to or if they were even there in the first place), including two on the optical drive - once I replaced those screws, the buzzing and racket I got from running a high-speed CD calmed down quite noticeably.
-
a loosely seated and secured drive would cause the noise and vibrations.
I have dual optical drives...and had the issue with one of mine... which was annoying so I took it out, added an adhesive thin rubber pad on one side to make it slightly thicker and to help absorb vibrations, and now its good to go. -
i had the similar experience with my thinkpad, depends on which disc i put in.

The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
it cud be tht the drive doesn't like the media.or may be the speed or writing?
If you can try a firmware flash for DVD or get it changed if possible. -
A lot of it depends on the speed that the autorun is set to use to read the disk. On the vaio I've got, most disks spin without making too much noise, but the _Sony "recovery" disks and one or two others (e.g., Acronis True Image Home) are set to run at an ungodly high speed, and that causes a lot of noise due both to the sound of the drive motor being pushed to its limit, as well as (in my case) rattling/buzzing caused by the drive being loose.

Use ABS.
No seriousely, as sugested, get a new firmware to slow down the drive. Vibrations are cause by very fast access times and reads, meaning more spinning of the disks, and which most of the time is not perfectly rounded and seated.
Think 8-shaped wheels .
