I wish I would have heard this of this site 3 years ago when I bought my Toshiba Qosmio. They have the worst products and the worst service one could ever expect from their (at the time) flagship product.
I have plenty of horror stories (actual horror, as the chassis started to melt and contort on my lap) that I would really like to leave behind as I start a new chapter with a new computer. I just need you guys to help me with the intro.
I am looking at the NP5793 vs. NP9262, with the real difference being the processor. I'm going for all the bells and whistles including 17" 1920X1200, nvidia 8800, 4g DRAM, etc.
The NP5793 will house the 45nm Intel® Core 2 Extreme Processor X9000 / 6MB L2 Cache, 2.80GHz, 800MHz FSB and will configure to $3,669.
The NP9262 will sport the Intel® Core 2 Quad Processor Q6700 / 8MB L2 Cache, 2.66GHz, 1066MHz FSB for $3,749.
Obviously, I am a hardcore gamer with no life and too much credit as well as the subsequent debt. I'm sure either one of these machines will meet my needs, but whats the main difference between these and which one will go obsolete first?

Why get the extreme CPU? Get a T9300 as it will suffice.
It has been discussed before:
1. 9262 is faster because of the desktop CPU.
2. 9262 can hold two video cards.
3. 9262 can hold three HDDs.
4. 5793 has better battery life
5. 5793 is way lighter (around three less pounds).
6. 5793 looks better.
I believe that the D90xC (Sager 9262) is more future proof (because of SLI and the capability to have 3 HDDs). If you don't need to carry it every day it would fit. Otherwise get the 5793. There are reviews of both units on this site.
You can look at it this way: the 9262 is the 5793 with one more video card, two more HDDs, extra weight (I like calling it fat) and of course butt ugly looks. There you go... -
You forgot to meantion the 9262's 30 minute battery life when gaming
-
Oh and 9262 runs cooler and quieter
-
heh, even on my m1710, i would never game on battery life.
almost impossible. -
I just noted what was best for both (except the bad looks and fat aspect of the D90xC).
-
On the 579x, try as you might, you`ll never game on battery as on AC. Because of some embedded safety issues which make the laptop run somewhat slower regardless of your performance settings.Tested it mysef,on battery any new game will stutter.
-
agree'd, and imo i love the look of the d90xc, It looks like a normal laptop.
-
It's ****ing ugly though...the M57xRU-U looks good.
-
imo, i think the ru looks fugly.
i just hate the orange trim and the wedge shape -
Lol. the d901c looks like a box with ports.
The m570ru-x is beautiful and has great lines and the overall shape distinguishes it from all box like laptops.
You can tell I love mine,don`t ya ? -
yup, too each their own.
I just wanted a plain looking notebook. after having an m1710 you know... it's flashy as heck. -
Well , you can always get the 5793 and scratch it so it would look like a "regular laptop"
-
nah, i want 3 hdd raid sli quad core that... Awesome Powa!!!
-
Like I've said before...the D90xC is like most fun you can have with the ugliest girl.
-
But that girl has the power, she`s got experience into doing "fun" stuff, she does them better than ANY other girl.
The same with the D90xC,might not be pretty, but does the job better than any other laptop in the world... -
beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
duh.
I think the RU is F-Ugly!
I think the 900c is beautiful -

Wouldn't it be awesome if Sager made the 5793 with some cool lights like the m15x?

Are you all owners or users of the 9262 saying it's ugly, have you had your hands on one? Like other threads have said this system is real quality with nice lines and feel and too for what it is a REAL DESKTOP REPLACEMENT. I know many of us would say it is quite attractive.
-
-
babyhemi, when you compare that desktop replacement you have there (this is the real portable desktop) to a normal laptop you'll see what I mean: it 2.35" thick.

I recently Purchased an NP5793 i had it for about a week playing my online games and such but something didn't seem right about it, i wasn't getting the performance i had expected. I decided after a week that for the money i was spending I would rather future proof myself more and get the desktop processor and have the SLI capability so i returned the NP5793 to Sager and Purchased the NP9262. This cost me about $300 in lost shipping costs but boy was it worth it. The 9262 feels so much more solidly build than the 5793 which had some torshion and creeking when handled. The 9262 runs and loads faster and plays my online games better ( i sometimes play 3 clients of the same game at the same time on the 9262) the 5793 struggled with 2 clients at the same time. Also I noticed that the 9262 is much quieter and turns the fans on to high speed much less than the 5793 did. The 5793 sounded like it was running on full fan speed alot of the time during intense gaming. I have used the Fn+1 to turn all fans on full speed on my 9262 and although somewhat noisy i have actually never heard the laptop reach this fan speed on its own regardless of what i am doing with it. I think the 9262 looks great. I mean its not all stickers and neon colors and such but its great. I didn't really like the orange strip on the 5793 anyway. Best bang for the buck get the 9262. Best decision i made was replacing the 5793 for a 9262. and i can't wait to get the additional video card and install into my monster notebook. just my 2 cents from my recent purchases.
-
I'm glad I got the 9262. I've regretted every other "gaming" laptop purchase before(ABS, Asus, HP, Toshiba), but not this one.
mattsager, just checked out the rolling case you have... After hauling my 9262 thru a few airports with my backpack, that rolling case is looking pretty good.

NP5793 is good enough for me since i still game on my 360/ps3.
