The links are not the right ones.
I see the prices are kinda good, but I am not so sure about the shipping dates for these two laptops.

dang.... its about a hundred bucks cheaper then xotic with same config and 40 bucks cheaper if doing cash with xotic. But it only has a 1 year standard warranty and no skinning options.

They're being a little coy about exactly when systems will ship, although the Edge has a little warning in red stating that it's for "pre-order" and that there's a 2-month price match guarantee. The M570TU (aka Horizon) doesn't say anything one way or the other about shipping times, although according to the configurator, it won't be available with a quad-core until at least 7/31.

Wasn't the Edge originally being sold with a 3-month price matching guarantee? If so, then I think that the fact they've now dropped it to a two-month guarantee and we've just entered the month of July is the clearest indication that they won't be shipping the Edge until September - if it was a 3-month guarantee in June, and now a 2-month guarantee in July, that suggests that they won't have the systems available to perform their end of the contract until September, and they want to make sure that they can hold onto your money until then, even if someone else can ship the same system at an earlier date, or for a lower price.

So, I'm going to bet on PCMW shipping the Edge in September.

Interesting. It seems that the Edge can also be built with the ATI 3870. But the Horizon only uses Nvdia.

By that time all these deals would have been gone. I am willing to bet that there will be a pretty decent change in prices especially for the ram.

this is a pretty good deal guys. jump on if you can, you can always cancel if another reseller sells it for less/pricematch. About the 9800gtx - it's not on the site - true, but if you call maybe they'll add it for you. I added it so that I can push back the purchase of this item because I want the true centrino 2 platform in my laptop. whether they have the 9800gtx is another story - but what it did for me is golden - I get to secure a great price without having them ship it to me on launch - just enough time for ppl to review + test + sort out some bugs so I can decide if I truly want it. That's the gameplan!

That's really cool. Although I'd kinda feel bad not buying from xoticpc... :(

haha it better. but im thinking i'm going to get the 5796 from xoticpc. heads up Justin here comes a bunch of PM's lol. The price is fair and even when I configure mine on pcmw with the $450 off its still cheaper to go with xoticpc's offer right now.

I chose not to go with PCMW even though they are roughly $80 cheaper just because of all the shady things they have been doing over the past few months with the EDGE and what not.

its on the link in the first page.

Ok guys, I seriously need some advise. I need this thing by the 15th of august.
As of right now, I'm getting an approx 50 dollar difference between this and xotic. And I'm probably going to have to pay an extra 35 for the p9600. So the only thing I'm worried about PCMW is if they don't ship it in time. But from the other thread in the forum, their quality is pretty good.

"...we guarantee you won't find a lower price for at least 3 months."

That's what it says on the website on the intro page. It doesn't differentiate between other resellers and themselves. One sweet blanket provision.

I honestly think they're gonna be losing money on a couple of these deals because with all the free stuff I got that only put them at 50 over cost so they were only making 50 bucks. and that's before i'm gonna tell them i'm a student so take another 100 off and then this 50 off. So they're definately losing money. I think they even acknowledge they're losing money on their web page when they say ...."Featuring lower than wholesale pricing only this weekend!."

    Strange indeed.

Well - I guess so. Till other trusted vendors start offering this product we won't really know what the base price of it would be/what mark ups are for it. We really don't have much of a basis of comparison.

You don't know it's not true - and I don't know it's not true. Maybe you're not staring into the same crystal ball i'm staring into. lol.

About PCMW matching themselves, I don't think you'll need to worry about that. I matched my configuration with the current "$550" off, and it ended up being $300 more than my current price. I guess they realized how much it will actually cost for this laptop.

Oh well, already got the best price I guess.

From the information present to us at hand, PCMW isnt intel or clevo direct, and past launches have shown they ship things a bit later then release date and other resellers/sager. So if all this that they are doing right now is CS in the works to attract more customers then it is possible that if you do go with PCMW august 15th will be close.

Eh? if they aren't clevo direct then they have to be a reseller from someone else right? Which means that they would be on the same tier as xoptic and power. Chances are though, they are like sager and work directly with clevo since there aren't that many eurocom resellers and the other main one is way too overpriced. Of course, since I just recently discovered clevo and its sellers, this is all speculation, so take it with a grain of salt.

But I'm on the checkout stage already and I haven't seen a mention of it. the only education related thing on the site is for bulk ordering. Anybody know where I can get this discount?

PCMW is a Eurocomm reseller. To date, the only three identified direct importers from Clevo into North America (U.S. and Canada) are Sager, Pro-Star, and Eurocom, at least according to the relevant section of the Clevo Guide by Gophn.

xotic and PNB are resellers of sager which is clevo direct. So they are like indirect clevo.

I think that, as a general matter, justin and paladin44 seem to check their email on the weekend; however, I would not count on them being available at all this weekend because of the July 4th holiday - I'm sure they're all taking a very well-deserved break.

Perhaps sujinge9's econ study should have included at least a chapter or two on goodwill, the earning thereof, and the value thereof. :)
