    Hi all,

I'm new here, but I lurked for a while before I purchased my np5797. I opted to save a few bucks and not get the tuner card since I wanted something which would support CableCARDs when I eventually got around to it. I do more software development than anything else on this machine, but I also use it for games and movies. Getting sick of having to walk over to the notebook everytime I want to pause a movie I figured there must be a program where I could use my TV remote to control it (after all it has an IR receiver in the front). I'm now finding out that this receiver is either not installed or non-functional w/out the OEM tuner (thanks theriko for the manuals in your sig).

My question is: does my notebook have an IR receiver? Will it be active if I plug in a thrid party (external) tuner, or do I need to purchase and install the OEM tuner to use my IR port.

Thanks in advance for your help.
