Hello all...new guy here. Been perusing the forums and feel that this is the place to put this post, since Sager tech support isn't all it's cracked up to be.

    Point #1....
The NIC (realtek) in my 8120 has disappeared. Doesn't show in hardware manager or anywhere. first trouble shooting was to reboot, no luck. Second was to re-install/upgrade system drivers, no luck. Third was complete power off and disconnect of battery, no luck. Fourth was to reseat all componants, viola the NIC reappered for about 30 seconds, then poof gone again. Fifth was to reinstall OS (Windows 7 64bit) and update all drivers and windows patches, no luck.

My assumption would be that it is a hardware failure....any ideas.

    Point #2....
The HDMI out doesn't appear to be working properly. It will only intermittantly send a singnal to the monitor (flashes on monitor but never steady). I have check the cable and the monitor on another machine and all is fine.

Again, my assumption is hardware issue.

Any help on the above 2 issues would be greatly appriciated.

Is anything plugged in to your NIC? I believe these machines have a power saving feature that turns it off completely if nothing is plugged in.

yes, ethernet is plugged in...but that shouldn't make a difference. It doesn't even show in Device Manager. Which means the OS doesn't recognize that there is even a NIC in this machine.

Thank you for the reply, any other ideas are welcome.

That is the behaviour for this 'feature'. People had had problems installing the drivers as it didn't show up at all till you plugged a cable in. If theres a cable in then that shouldn't be your problem though.

Worth noting that this power saving 'feature' only reacts when plugged in on both ends.
I have the same 'issue' with my W860CU. I have to have the ethernet cable connected to a router/computer and then to my laptop in order for it to show.
