I just got my Sager 8130 and the mic volume is way too low. The drivers are installed, the default has been configured, the mute is not on, and the volume is set to 100. It can definitely hear the click of the trackpad button (goes almost up to 50% on the volume bar), but it can't pick up my voice even if my mouth is right next to it. I did the Speech Recognition with my mouth next to the mic and it registered only a tiny blip (not even a cm) on the yellow part of the bar (it goes Yellow, Green, and then Red). Does anyone have any ideas?

Some easy stuff to check out...not sure if you have...
Have you gone to recording devices (in sound properties) to ensure it is enabled? Go through the properties of the mic and ensure that it is on listen mode and not playback.

Not sure what else to do -.-

Its enabled. I had to change the default mic to the built-in mic and watch the volume meter jump up and down when I tap the mic.

It's not on listen mode either. I don't want to send it back, I just got it! :'( Life is so... cruel...

I'm just gonna throw one out there because I don't own an 8130. But in the option in the recording panel for your mic is there a check box that says Mic Boost? That's always fixed that problem for me on my desktop.

Ah, thanks a lot. I started tweaking around with that after my last post and it helped the issue. Is it normal having to tweak it up to +20/+30 dB for it to function correctly?

    +1 nonetheless. :)

Seems to be the case with a lot of mics. Mine doesn't even have the box anymore. Last time I updated it was always set to on so it just worked. :p

I'm trying to use Skype and no one can hear me. I have it set to mic 2 and if I tap the touchpad area it does register but nothing with voice. I have the mic volume and boost at max.

Just a thought but have you checked your sound settings in Skype itself? Your mic volume may be set low or it might be set to a different mic altogether. (In Skype)
