Does anyone know if there are any internal USB headers or anything on the motherboard that we could hook a USB device into the laptop internally?

I modded some old netbooks with internal USB devices but their motherboards had USB headers or I was able to split the signal from the webcam, etc.

I wanted to know if there were any unused USB headers inside the P150/P151HM on the motherboard so I can mount a USB device internally.

    Ok,

What are you trying to mount in the case? What type of device. There are a few options but I need to know what you are trying to pull off.

If I could find a decent 15.6" touchscreen that fit, it would be something I might try down the line. For now I just wanted to see if there were any internal headers I could use or split off as a basic starting point for what I can add internally as I hate external USB devices and dongles.

As a basic start, I'd like to try to mount my mouse receiver internally, etc. and then onto TV tuner and GPS ideas, etc. There is some space in the case in various places. Especially since I have an HDD caddy, there is a ton of space inside the caddy shell.

Hi, long time lurker here :)

im also very interested in finding some internal usb pin headers i will be attempting to put a internal 4 port usb hub in there and attach the following to it:

    1. nano kingston bluetooth reciever
    2. wireless xbox360 controller reciever for windows
    3. Alfa AWUS036NEH usb dongle (for use with backtrack 5), I would love for the actually adapter to be flush with the chasis and just have the screw for the anntena popping out the side somewhere
    4. Hot pluggable Lacie Fastkey 60GB, the thing is huge and would love for it to be flush with the chasis when plugged in ( saves me carrying around another thing that i will end up losing) and be easily removable.

Like its been said theres plenty of room inside the ODD bay.

The hub ill try and use is the same as this guys:

Eee PC Internal Upgrades - ivc wiki

Ive checked the service manual out but cant seem to find any spare usb header pins although the 1 for the ccd(webcam?) could be the most convenient, if not i could always use an existing usb port and loop 1 back to it from the hub. Theres also the spare pci-e mini port where the 3g/hspda adapter goes but im not sure how to wire something upto that.

And then i found another problem trying to cram all that stuff onto the usb hub will exceed the power supllied by a usb port alone and will require me to wire up the additional 5v on the hub to somewhere else on the mobo.

So thats my plan, may seem a little crazy but i love internal stuff... but this will be my first time modding anything and im worried how my crap soldering skills will hold up

    Hi weirdos0000,

I was just wondering if you know which of these other Alfa products has good compatibility with back track 5 ?

    AWUS051NH using Ralink RT2770 RT2750
    AWUS036NH using RT3070 (like your AWUS036NEH)
    AWUS036NHA using AtherosAR9271
    AWUS036NHR using RTL8188RU

Your best bet would be to ask on the BT forums alot of people give praise to the alfa cards (with the right ralink chipset in) but i myself got the AWUS036NEH from a friend who had no use for it anymore.

Now back to the main problem, is anyone good at this internalizing business who wants to help me find the right pins for an internal usb hub?

you could solder the cable in directly to an existing port, but it could be risky, perhaps you could then use the power from that internal usb port to power a backlit keyboard

has anyone successfully installed a Alfa AWUS036NHA antenna on their system for BackTrack 5?

I have seen but one reference to this over the whole net but nothing else.

I will have no more money to pay for my wifi internet service and will have to use my home wifi service but I can't instal drivers.

I think I may have the wrong model antenna for this :(
