My malibal branded NP8130 is randomly turning off wireless networking capabilities. I've disabled the computer's ability to turn off the card to save power, and I've made sure the drivers are up to date.

Is my wireless card going bad? I sent malibal an email last night but haven't heard back yet so thought I'd try here.

If you're not using it, I'd say disable/uninstall the Intel MyWIFI software. It gave me issues when I was trying to connect to the university's wireless.

It's not useful at all, imo. It allows your laptop to broadcast a wifi signal (provided it's connected to a wireless network) for other devices to connect to.

Tried that...didn't solve the issue. It's still doing it intermittently...often while I play a game or right after I turn the computer on, I have a few seconds of wireless then it goes to "no connections available" and troubleshooting indicates that wireless has been disabled.

Sounds like a software issue then. Why don't you redownload the intel wifi drivers for the (6230? I'm guessing you have that one) and then uninstall your current ones and reinstall it with whatever you've just downloaded.

Under device manager the wireless card is listed as "realtek RTL8188CE Wireless LAN 802.11n Combo PCI-E NIC."

Stupid question, but you did this with the realtek drivers, and not the intel ones, right? :D

    Wild idea:

If it's the base or 6230 card, could the bluetooth and wifi cards be interfering with each other?

Okay I think I figured it out. At some point the manual "off" button was tripped for the antenna I think. I pressed it on and off a few times, and then left it on...it hasn't (thus far) demonstrated the same problem again. Not sure what the issue was, I've certainly never pressed that button before and nobody uses my laptop but me. Who knows.
