Hi, just bought a Sager NP8130, and turboboost does not work when the laptop is plugged in? Can someone please help.
EDIT: I found the culprit, but can't fix the problem on my own. When I take the battery out but leave it plugged in, turboboost works fine again. I know this from intel's turboboost monitoring tool, and other monitoring software I have running. Also, when the battery is charged above 92% and the laptop is plugged in, turboboost works fine. It seems to have something to do with the power draw required to charge the battery when its under 92% that is disabling turboboost. I really want a way around this. Thanks in advance.

How did you find this out?
Turbo boost works when you are loading the CPU. -
Run super pi then it should go up.

Just shooting from the hip here, but others have mentioned using ThrottleStop to adjust performance of the CPU. Maybe give that a shot?

plugged in no battery -> turboboost yes
plugged in fully charged battery -> yes
plugged in not fully charged -> no
unplugged fully charged -> ?
unplugged partial charge -> ?
when turbo boost doesnt kick in for my vid is ~0.7v and i top off at 800mhz -__- (2630qm) -
I'm willing to bet that everybody has the same problem as nodachi and myself, they just never noticed it. Anyone want to confirm or deny that? Here's what I do to check: Download the intel turboboost monitoring software. Then download super pi. Put rig into performance. Unplugg rig and run ateast 512k super pi test. See if turboboost kicks on by looking at monitoring software. It should kick in. Then, drain battery to below 90%, and plug in and then run super pi again. Actually run it twice. I guarantee you that after the second test your chip will be throttled to whatever your base frequency is. Plug back in, charge above 93%, and run super pi again. I'm betting turboboost will work again. I'd love to get results from some other folks. -
im wondering why mine does not boost up to 2.9 ghz like it says it can, i tried super pi and hyper pi, and full performance plugged in the ac, and it can only reach 2.7 ghz. is this a defect?

What is turbo boost? What is it for? Where can I find that button?

^you need to download this -> Processors — Intel® Turbo Boost Technology Monitor Overview and check if your processor can do its boost.. mine only went up to 2.7 ghz.. but specified to be up to 2.9 ghz..
