How do the two finishes in these laptops compare with each other? Which is better between them? Is the NP8150 fingerprint-proof because of the rubber texture?

I have the NP8150, and the rubber texture is actually pretty nice. It seems nearly completely fingerprint-proof, but it does attract dust more than the plastic would.

I own the 8130 and the finish on it is a soft matte plastic that feels nice to the touch and does not attract fingerprints very much (at least not for me).

What IS however a dust magnet is the area just under the LCD bezel (where the air vents are). The combination of the glossy plastic on the bezel and the close proximity to the air vents leads to my 8130 collecting more dust there than anywhere else on my lappy.

Hmmm, why does rubber texture attract more dust?

Is the finish on the 8130 exactly the same to that of the W860CU (this was my previous laptop that I already sold) ?

No idea, I've never owned the W860CU sorry.

I've heard that the rubberized finish is also on the touchpad for the 8150 / P150HM model, which is a big turn off to most people.

Probably just more visible on the textured version, I don't think there's a huge difference to be honest.

They're pretty similar, but the 8130 is a lot slimmer.

Hmmm, ok. If I go with the rubberized texture of the 8150, do I experience a big difference over the traditional plastic bezel that I used to have with my W860CU?

If you're referring to the bezel around the screen, it's actually still glossy plastic on both models, not rubberized like the rest of the machine on the P150HM.

Actually, I was referring to the whole texture finish of the laptop. I guess I was wrong using the term bezel

    Whoops, sorry about that :)

I can't say as to the other model, but the rubberized finish is nothing like the plastic on other models. It's a bit more sleek but it's tackier when you run your fingers across it (for example, running a towel over it to wipe off dust is tricky because it won't slide easy). I rather like it because it makes the machine more grippy when you rest your hands on it or carry it around. Of note, only the top of the lid and interior palm rest are rubber. The bottom and the bezel around the screen are simply hard plastic.

i got the matte plastic and its really fingerprint proof, but i bet the rubberized will feel more premium.

So technically, it's hard to wipe off the dust from the rubberized texture?

You mean the P151HM1 is fingerprint proof even though it's hard plastic?

I'd say its because the dust is harder to get off the rubber coating. Not that it attracts more dust.

The way it goes is pretty much this:

    8150/P150HM - RUBBERIZED:
    - Feels like a premium texture.
    - Fingerprint proof.
    - Scratches easily. (Marks)
    - Dust clings to it more, and as a result is harder to get off.

    8130/P151HM1 - MATTE PLASTIC:
    - Fingerprint proof.
    - Easier to clean when dirty.
    - A bit more resilient to scratches and marks.
    - Feels less premium, but still great quality.
