I have just decided to purchase a sager 8130 notebook and have a few questions regarding gaming to ask. I am planning to use this laptop for at least 2 years for sixthform.
-Shall I upgrade the cpu to 2720qm?
-Does upgrading ram from 1333mhz to 1600mhz help?
-Shall I upgrade to SSD? If yes, will upgrading it by myself cheaper?
-Shall I upgrade 30 Day No Dead Pixel Warranty?
-Any experience on xoticpc's redline boost overclock option? What are the risks and are they worth it?
    Thx a lot!!

    1.) You won't notice a difference between 1333 and 1600 Mhz ram
2.) It would be cheaper to do it yourself, but I'd only suggest going the SSD route if you plan on removing he Optical Drive to make room for a second hard drive
3.) 30 Day No Dead Pixel Warranty isn't worth it because you get a 30 day no-questions-asked return policy anyway (just use that as leverage to get a new screen...cheaper for them to give you a new screen than another laptop)
4.) Don't have XoticPC overclock your system, we'll teach you how to do it for free. Also note that the CPU can not be overclocked, only the GPU.

Also, what are the risks of overclocking?

No, the 2630qm will suffice unless you're going to be doing HD video editing.

Overclocking will increase the heat that the graphics card is running at, so it can decrease the life of your laptop. That being said, as long as you do it safely and do NOT increase voltages, this difference should be very slight, and unless you plan on owning the laptop 10 years, you shouldn't notice the degradation due to heat.

So is it better for me to purchase a higher-end video card, such as 485m and 580m, than overclocking 560m?

Well, it depends if you can afford the upgrade and don't mind the rubberized trackpad...

If the answer to the above is "I can" and "I don't," then upgrade to the 485m.

8130 and 8150 are different laptops?
Heard some thermal problems on the 485m, how serious is it?

So the picture on their official site is a misunderstanding? It seems blue in colour to me.

if u purchase your laptop with warranty, overclocking it will void warranty. so the redline would be best if u want overclocking and still keep the warranty. if u do want 1600mhz ram then u will need the i7 2720 cpu upgrade as it supports the faster ram.
also i u still cant decide who to buy your laptop from i would recommend anyone of the resellers that post at nbr, but thats just my 2 cent.

Doesn't void warranty on Sagers unless you destroy it directly because of overclocking (I.E. melt your card or something). Having an OC'd card and having your card randomly roll over and die one day should still be fine.

Overclocking cannot void warranty on any hardware. The Sandy Bridge processors cannot be overclocked via any conventional means. Redline only overclocks the GPU which everyone already does by themselves through Nvidia Inspector or MSI Afterburner. The clocks are limited and voltage cannot be changed so there is nothing the average user can actually do to cause any damage whatsoever.

Actually, the voltage can be changed fairly easily today.

So, uh, don't do that? I guess :p

    Yeah, seriously...don't change voltage.
