I have had my NP8150 for a week now, purchased from XoticPC. Whenever my screen changes from a bright to a dark image suddenly, a faint red ghost of the previous bright image remains on the screen, fading out in about half a second. It is also possible to observe this by scrolling a piece of bright text on a dark background. The text leaves a red trail behind it.

I have seen this video of a monitor that exhibits ghosting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjJXrOwjPZs

My monitor does not do this. The effect is not apparent in regular use, only during bright to dark colour change. I would describe it as fairly minimal, but noticeable. Dark to bright transitions are not affected.

Edit: I found a video that describes exactly what I am experiencing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMEHhUHvOkU
Edit 2: I just ran some tests with a monitor benchmark and a camera, and clocked the response time for the red pixels at 330 +/-10ms. The response time for the green and blue pixels were faster than 16.6ms (60hz) and were thus not measurable.

Has anyone else with this screen experienced this? My last LCD screen, despite being very poor in every spec, did not exhibit this behaviour.

Computers do go through a full QA and burn in before they are shipped. Sometimes issues aren't there then and can develop over time, even within a week. That's one of the main reasons computers come with a warranty, its to cover any defects as they arise.

That shouldn't be an excuse to continue selling bad screens.

This is the antithesis of standing by your product.

the MOMENT I turned on my 8130, it was IMMEDIATELY and OBVIOUSLY too red. it also has some streaking, but I'm not worried about it, unlike others, as it's not something I notice in day to day usage. My point is that the screen isn't really top-notch, especially for the extra $75 for pixel insurance and whatever it was (I forgot) extra for the HD matte screen.
