    Hi,

I currently have my GPU fan speed set in the BIOS at 50% and I've noticed that at times the GPU RPM drops to 0. Is this normal? I have never seen a GPU fan RPM drop that low before.

The range I've seen so far is 0-300 RPM. The temps are consistently around 45-51C under normal conditions ie browsing etc. No heavy gaming yet. Only once have I heard a fan kick into high gear, but I have no idea if it was the CPU or GPU fan.

I haven't been able to monitor the CPU RPM with software at all. I'm wondering if it can't be done. Is there a way to monitor the CPU RPM?

Has anyone else noticed the GPU RPM dropping this low?

    Mike

You set the fan speed in the GPU BIOS. Yea, the one thing with Clevo's you can set the fan speed in the GPU BIOS all day, but it gets ignored as the EC on the motherboard does all the work of managing the fan, the GPU lines are not hooked up to the fan. So changing those settings doesn't affect anything.

So there is no reason to set the fan speed in the BIOS? So a setting of 30 or 100 will not do anything at all?

Correct. The Embedded Controller is responsible for fan speeds on the current models. You have the option of automatic fan controls or max speed, but that's it. The bios doesn't do anything for fan control and there is no software out there yet that can interface with the EC to allow manual intervention.

Thanks. I went back in and reset the fan speed to 30% as that is what it was when I received the laptop.

Seems kind of strange that the fan controller would let the RPM drop down that low and not keep it running at all times.
