    Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to change the behavior of the Fn key on the NP8150 (running 7 Pro, if that matters).

Basically, the Fn+F4 combination is used for putting the computer to sleep. Unfortunately, the mute combination is Fn+F3, and the volume adjustments are Fn+F5 and Fn+F6, so I find myself putting the computer to sleep when all I wanted to do was change/mute the volume (possibly my fault for gaming in the dark, lol).

So, what I would like to do is disable the function of the Fn+F4 combo, and reassign that Sleep functionality to a different map, ideally something way out of the way (like Fn+the asterisk in the top right corner of the keyboard).

Does anyone know if this is possible, or know of a way to accomplish it? Thanks in advance?

Fn key behavior change is usually in the BIOS

    Hi

I'm facing the same exact problem with my np8150... I resorted to getting a hot key tool in order to rearrange volume hotkeys and add some multimedia functionality to the keyboard ;)
In case you're wondering what tool I got:
It's called "Easy hot key" and can be bought for 7.99€ @ StraightSoft.net » Home of Easy Hot Key and Icon Extracter (formerly Case Pro)
You can also download a demo version... And yes I've been trying to find a freeware hot key tool, but I haven't really found something as convincing as this :) Even though I'm sure that I once had one...
Unfortunately the fn-key of the np8150 seems to have a hardware-based effect since it cannot be used with any of the 5+ tools I've tested, so I simply use the AltGr key as modifyer instead...

    regards
    Preggy

The FN+<key> combos are all hardwired into the BIOS/EC of the laptop and cannot be changed. The only suggested way is as above getting a program that will keep track of a different modifier to do the hotkey work.
