I have a 120gb Intel SSD waiting as well as a tube of Noctua NT-H1 to do my own re-paste. My next step is to find some sort of 'lap platform' to keep the laptop on while using it on my lap...something that can be packed along with the laptop, in my bag.
Those of you that have them with glossy screens, if you could go back and re-order, would you stick with glossy or switch to matte?

    Gratz on your purchase!

as for the screen I have the stock glossy screen on my 8170, pretty happy with it and wouldn't switch, although I keep it on the dimmest settings when I'm browsing because it kinda hurts my eyes at full lol.

Id go with matte but in either case at least go with a higher gamut screen, not the stock. The difference is huge...

Thanks guys. The system has already been ordered, paid for and in the process of construction. I couldn't justify spending an extra 200 dollars on a screen upgrade, but if the difference is really that great, and I'm absolutely unhappy with the stock screen, I'll see what I can do about buying the matte screen and changing it myself.

It's not that you won't be unhappy with the screen upgrade. It's the fact that the higher gamut screen makes everything so vibrant and real, it's insane, one of my friends just go the gamut and one of my classmates has the stock and the difference is INSANE, but ofc 200$ is still a lot of cash :)

Anyone know where to purchase stand-alone LCD screens for these, in the event that I do decide to change it later on?
