    I have a Sager NP8170 (P170HMx), with BIOS version: 1.01.10LS1, EC/KBC firmware : 1.00.09

Has anyone with this model upgraded Ram to a Corsair Vengeance DDR3 ? I've completed the upgrade but speed readings seems incorrect. Also, the BIOS settings cannot be adjusted for EM and HM series of this model. Any ideas on how to get the Ram to run at the correct speed? Thanks

Judging by the attached screenshots, it runs at 1600MHz. What seems to be the problem?

It seems to be running but not using the XMP profile. My reseller sent a message to me explaining what Sager mentions about 1600 MHz ram.

I don't even think the 8170's BIOS supports XMP. Actually, I'm not even sure mobile chipsets have XMP support.

8170 BIOS doesn't support XMP but I believe Prema modded bios would allow XMP profile DIMMS to be used. Anyone tried using Intel extreme tuning for XMP profile ram?

Your ram is running at the rated speed already. 1600 cl10.

XMP is listed under tech specs on the same link you provided earlier. Have a look.

Why do you care if the ram is using xmp me or jedec if it's running at the right speed?

As has been mentioned several times already, the ram is running at the rated speed. Your BIOS does not support XMP, so that's a no go. If you flashed Prema's BIOS, you might be able to adjust speed and timings yourself, which negates the lack of an XMP because you get full control of the ram.

Use Intel XTU v2.1 to select XMP profiles (if present) or OC the RAM.

Any particular reasons for using XTU v2.1? I use the most recent (v4.4) and all OCing features are still there...

He has an HM...only v2.1 was supported...others lacked features...though I never tried the latest revisions recently as I have no CPU for my P170HM3 ...

I had no idea that HMs were not supported. There you go, you enlighted me again. ;)

I'm not sure the HM was every officially supposed to work with XTU.
