I am interested in buying a Sager and had a few questions and a topic no one has posted in yet:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/wha...9-buying-laptop-urgency-two-mind-already.html

I noticed the screen only comes in Matte, not a big issue. What I want to know is does a 3D screen hinder any normal use on it, for instance doing school work, programming, word processing, youtubing?

Also how is the 3D controlled, by the GPU, like the 580m?

What is the life expectancy of a 3D screen compared to a regular screen?

    Thank you.

Great choice! Yes it does come in Matte only. There are many using this screen for non-gaming, non-3D and it is a great screen!

From what we have been told the life expectancy is no different than the standard displays. Yes the 3D is by the video card. This is a main reason why these are shipping with only the nVidia cards only at this time. :)

The screen is great for all uses, its still a 120Hz screen when not in 3D mode. So its just fine for everything.

The 3D is controlled by profile and by keystroke in the NVidia control panel and game. So you can turn it on and off as you need to. For the life expectancy it should last just as long as every other LED LCD screen.

Thank you for the quick replies and clear answers.

Would you happen to know if the NP8170 contains an HDMI input? If so would the 120ghz screen impact display of a PS3 console plugged in?

Can you watch 3D blu-ray movies on the 3D screen with the standard 6x Blu-ray reader you can equip the NP8170 with? Or are they not supported?
