Well, I finally destroyed my previous laptop (lenovo 550p?) by pushing it off the top bunk after accidentally falling asleep. And now it's time for a new laptop. Which is awesome, I've been reading about Sager laptops and just need a little encouragement.

So, Sager owners, how well to these things take to wear and tear? I travel a ton and plan on taking this with me off and on oil rigs. Not exactly the best environment, but it's what I have to work with.

Note: I do not plan to volunteer myself for the top bunk in the future.

I'm guessing not as durable as those lenovos being advertised as spill proof, shock proof and rated to fall for 4 feet.

Otherwise we'd probably pay premium for those as well as being advertised.

ideapads are not in the same league as thinkpads.

I don't think a 8lbs monster can survive falling from top bunker though...

The 8170's finish is brushed aluminum, which can be susceptible to scratches and dings in tough environments. The 8150's finish is rubberized and may serve you better.

    Of course it's a 15.6".
