I am looking at buying a Sagar NP8170 and I had a question about the stock screen. I am worried it will be too glossy but the upgraded matte screens are the 3D screens. These say that they must go with a GTX but I was hoping to have the ATI 6990m in my system rather then the GTX 560m. Does this requirement exist only if I plan to use the system in 3D? How important is it to get the matte screen over the screen that is included?

The glossy screen wont be too bad, pretty much on par as any other glossy notebook screen you've had.

The Matte 3D screens will only work on the computers that have an Nvidia card because the ATI cards use a different motherboard that wont support the upgraded screen.

There are other matte screen options available from different resellers as well that will work with the 6990M.

Personally I do prefer a matte screen over a glossy screen.

You might find this thread helpful if you're trying to get an idea of the quality of the stock screen.

As Hutsady pointed out, the 120hz screen and the stock screen use different connectors on the motherboard and are limited to Nvidia cards only. If you want the 6990, the 120hz is not possible at the current time :(

There is a matte screen option available from Malibal that is non-3D / not 120hz, at the bottom of the list of display options, thought it's a little on the pricey side. I've got it in my AMD 6990 laptop and it looks great - very crisp and clean with no reflection.

Yes that screen many dealers offer, it is the AU Optronics B173HW01 V.5 with 72% Color Gamut NTSC. A nice screen indeed! :)
