I have been watching the NP8255-S price for months now and all that time it did not change. It even remained the same price going from the summer sale to the winter sale.
Recently the special eddition price went up though. It increased about $100 more for a simular configuration. This brings me to the other thing I noticed. The standard special eddition configuration changed in a few spots. For example it no longer defaults to 16Gig of ram, instead you get 8G. The bly-ray drive is no longer defaulted, and some others. So you are losing the discount.
So my question is, is this normal for Sager to do, i.e. change prices like this? If so, will they later lower the price and if so when? Seems like over time the price should drop, not go up. This is what I get for waiting for the Haswell USB 3.0 fix.

What configuration are you basing the price difference on? This is what the changes broke down as.
Sager NP8255-S Special Edition
Was: $1769.00 / Now: $1419.00
Stock ODD has changed to 8x DVD (was BR reader before)
Stock GPU is now 8970M (was 780M before)
780M GPU upgrade option has been added +$250
Was 16GB 1600MHz ram, changed to 8GB 1600MHz
Configurations are always subject to change, especially on the -S versions as they are already pretty steeply discounted and if there are any price changes in the components it may require an entire reworking of the system. -
I was looking at the config with all those options you noted. Also the thermal paste used to be IC Diamond, now it is stock.
So that configuration on your site was $1769, now it is $1849. A increase of $80.
I had a hard time justifying it before... so I just want to know if the price might drop, by how much, and when? Hopefully we can guess based on prior expierience. -

OK, thanks for the information. If any one else has seen a pattern, feel free to respond.
