I came back home from a journey and plugged the adapter into the electrical socket. However there was a small spark within the outlet as I plugged it in. Regardless, it still booted up into windows and I was loading a program before the computer crashed.

Since then it cannot be booted up again. It seems to be a power issue because as I pressed the power button, the battery light does not come on only the yellow light with the on off/ac symbol. Removing the battery and pushing the power button with only the adapter connected results in no light up at all from any of the system lights. More importantly, the power brick has no light as usual.

There doesn't seem to be any problem with the socket itself as I connected another device and it works fine. I am now awaiting XoticPC's reply but I hope it will just be a battery and adapter replacement rather than something more serious. Anyone have experience with short circuits disabling their Sagers like that before?

Seems like a damaged AC adapter.

When you plug in the AC adapter to the wall, there is often a small spark, but this is usually normal.

When the computer did work, were you running off AC power or battery?

Since it doesn't boot or show power with the ac adaptor, and you say no light on the adaptor, the adaptor may be bad as well. Since it won't boot off battery, you may also have fried the PS micon in the notebook. It doesn't sound good. But maybe the notebook itself is fine, and it is just the battery and the adaptor.

Is there normally a light on the adaptor even when the adaptor is not plugged into the computer?

Yeah when it last worked it was using power from the adapter and usually there is a light on the power brick when the adapter is not plugged in though I didn't notice if the light on the power brick would turn off after sometime of non use.
