NP860 Upgrade nearly 10 years on!

Hi all,

I dug out my old NP8690 as now in lockdown I can put some hours in on CIV 6 and the likes. I was hoping for some support and help with my upgrade process though as I am a little out of the game and so much has changed I am having trouble verifying fitment etc..

1) I am currently running the 720QM / 120W PSU but have just purchased a 920XM from ebay and plan to swap them out - will I need a new PSU and if so which one can I purchase that will have the correct fitment? I have seen on the forum a lot of people modding them but I have also seen a rep from Sager say they can be purchased directly from them?

2) The next thing is the GPU, which would be better considering they are both probably obsolete now anyway. Should I just straight swap my current 5870m to the 6970m? Or should I take the time to mod the heat sink to fit the 7970m? I have also seen pre modded heat sinks on sale for £105 (seems quite a lot).

3) My battery also went a long time ago and sourcing them is like rocking horse poo. Any suggestions?

4) Finally, I have already added Windows 10 64-Bit, a 250GB SSD and 16GB crucial RAM to top if off. Are there any other comments you could suggest?
