Hey guys, I recently made a substantial scratch on my laptop screen (NP8652) and I'm looking to replace the hardware. I have a few questions.

    1) I'm wondering if its possible to install a 4k screen into the NP8652 rather than just replacing the 1080p screen that it originally came with and if its possible to install a 4k G-sync screen as well.

    2) Would I need to buy a different cable to install the 4k screen if that is possible (30pin vs 40pin). As for the G-sync, I'm not too knowledgeable but from my understanding, it uses the same cable as a regular 4k screen but requires vbio flash.

    3) What are some recommended models of 1080p, 4k and 4k-gsync screens that can be installed and whats a reputable place that people recommend buying these products.

Thanks for your time and I appreciate any input.

If you did not get g-sync to start with then no you can't add it in (also this model has the internal through the IGP so no go there as well), as for the upgrade to 4k is there any particular reason? It will lower battery life and you will have to scale the UI, so you do need to really want it.

You may want to check the cable connector as I can't remember if the 30 pin and 40 pin models did share the same one.

See the guide here for the connector images.

Thanks for the info. Is there a recommended 1080p and 4k screen that fits the laptop? I'm just keeping the options open to see if it interests me.

Availability of panels changes all the time so it's best to look around when you know you want something.

These are some of the other panels that were available in the P650SG:

    AUO B156HAN01.2 - FHD

    Sharp LQ156D1JW0 - 4K RGB

Samsung SDC4852 - 4K RGBW / Pentile (cheaper than the Sharp but inferior quality).

As stated your laptop soedn't support G-Sync even though some of the compatible panels will run G-Sync on a compatible laptop like the P650RG (not the S* models though).

Where is the best or most convenient website to look at laptop screen replacements? I've looked around but there doesn't seem to be too many places that provide enough specs on the items to make up my mind. Thanks in advance.
