Does anyone have any knowledge or at least an educated guess about how long the battery will last?

2-2.5 hours is what i keep hearing but its going to depend on your configuration and what youre doing with it of course
-
you don't need to start a new thread to guess, just pm Justin, Donald or Gophn, they will tell you.
-
okie dokie will do. I'm just definitely agonizing over this decision a little much.

Tell me about it... i just ordered my lappy this morning. What decisioin are you agonizing over?
-
Well its probably because I have been obsessing over what laptop to get for quite some time. I had been looking at the XPS 1530 then I found out about the HP dv5t which was a pretty significant upgrade with the new platform, then I found out about the NP8660 which clearly blows the dv5t away.
I can get the dv5t for 1,330 when using all the available discounts (student, coupon, rebate). The Sager is a lot more and now I am slightly concerned that it won't get to me by the time I start school the third week of August.
It's more that HP is sucking me in with a really juicy price than anything I suppose. -

Yeah, I know excatly what you are saying, that's where I was this morning, till I just gave in and bought the np8660.
If I can give you a bit of help that helped me decide.
Dell xps 1530: Though it's getting cheaper, espeically with coupons out every week, it lacked in the fact that they are waiting too long to add the montivenas to their line up, also think of $500.00 of what your buying is the letters DELL and XPS placed on your laptop.
HP dv5t: Well, it actually came down to the dv5t verse the np8660. The 5t has great looks, but, that was the only plus for me. The GPU is weak, HDD was weak, (160gb @ 7200 rpm was the biggestest/fastest hdd they offer) and for the price... I just thought I could do better.
Sager NP8660: Well first of all, I was very leary of the Sager. I've never heard of them before, never seen one, But review after review... I dont think I've found a bad one yet. Everyone whose got one says get one. That speaks volumes to me. See I'm a consumer that buys nothing without putting in hours upon hours of research. with that said, i went with the np8660 simple because it was the best choice. You wont find a better system for the price. Period.
Even if you go a few days of school without a lappy, you will survive, and you will be very happy, I'm sure it will be worth the wait, and this is coming from one who has not ownd one, but like I said, I do my homework.
Xoticpc and powernotebooks are the best place to buy the np8660, id check them out if you decide to go that way, anways good luck. -
@TimBeConfused, just in case you don't if this will be your first year of college, most colleges lend out laptop for students with no cost (at least mine does). So if your machine does not arrive on time, you can always borrow one from your school.

Its actually law school and a lot of note taking occurs on laptops these days. I'm sure I could sweat it with good old pen and paper for a week or so, but ideally I would have it to start the first year of school.
How else will I play games in class on my way to failing out? -

Now, if your looking for a gaming computer, than go with the dv5t, but I'd completly toss the dell back to where it came from. It's not even comparable to the other two.
-
You were just very high on the 8660, why did you change your tune? Based on the possible arrival date conflicting with my plans?

Sorry bud, sometimes I type faster than I think, or I think faster than I type, hah. -
Haha thats fine we all do that.
Gaming is certainly a priority, I could probably have figured this stuff out by myself if I did not want a notebook to also be a very capable gaming rig. NP8660 looks like the one though. -

Yeah. But hey, I posted a few threads before I decided to get my np8660 from pnb, so its no problem. now I just got to wait wait wait... thats never been my strong point. Most of the guys on here seem pretty helpful, unlike some forums I've asked questions, where people will reply with a link to go read someone elses post, or just say go search the forum, as if huh... haha anyways.
