Hi, I am looking at the sager NP8660 on xoticpc and the ATI HD3870 graphics card is eta end of august but I can get the nVidia GeForce 9800M GTS for 135$ more however I heard they were similar performance wise. So I was wondering if there is another website that I can get the laptop sooner then that OR is the nVidia GeForce 9800M GTS in fact better (135$ better) then the ATI one? thanks

    9800m gts < 3870 < 9800m gt
And no, I believe sager is the quickest.

Also remember that ATI's graphic cards have a reputation of preforming worse in practical use than they do in benchmarks.

since i couldn't find a single review of an HD 3870M, i wouldn't wait for it.
unless you feel like doing test driving for amd.

Specs for the 9800M GT and 9800M GTS I read as follows -

    9800M GTS
    G94 core.
    64 Stream Processors.
    600 MHz core clock.
    1500 MHz shader clock.
    800 MHz memory clock.
    256 bit memory interface.
    51.2 GB/s memory bandwidth.
19.2 billion texels/s texture fill rate.
    288 GigaFLOPS.

    9800M GT
    G94 core.
    96 Stream Processors.
    500 MHz core clock.
    1250 MHz shader clock.
    800 MHz memory clock.
    256 bit memory interface.
    51.2 GB/s memory bandwidth.
24.0 billion texels/s texture fill rate.
    360 GigaFLOPS.

By reading this, the 9800m GT is more powerful? I've always been under the impression that historically the GTS was more powerful than a GT.

Nope if you look at the stream processors the GT has 32 more which is a HUGE difference than the 250 shader clock. Also the texture fill rate on the GT is higher, along with the 360 Gigaflops Vs 288 Gigaflops. The clocks are the last thing you should be looking at.
