Hi guys,
The subject pretty much says it all.
Fingerprint reader: at the Vista log-in screen, sometimes the fingerprint login option will be displayed and sometimes it won't. When it isn't, I go into the software and try to see what's going on and it says that my fingerprint reader isn't connected (though it's integrated...). Then, other times, it will magically work again.
I saw that my drivers were out of date, so I installed the new drivers. No change. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the entire software package -- no change.
I'm beginning to think it's a hardware problem, like the fingerprint reader is very loosely connected or something. I haven't been able to diagnose when it happens -- it has happened with the A/C adapter plugged in, running on battery, other devices plugged in/unplugged... I think it is the fingerprint reader itself. Any others having issues?
Turbo memory: was working fine for a while, but now the dashboard only loads sometimes (not correlated with fingerprint reader not working). If I try to load it manually, it crashes. Programs used to load more quickly when I wasn't having these issues. I have the latest drivers. Is it consistently working for everyone else?
Thanks for any ideas you might have on these issues

I have some of the same issues...but mine developed when I uninstalled the ITM software and driver, then reinstalled using the -UP command. Even though the Fingerprint option doesn't show at the login screen at times, I can still swipe and get in. My ITM Dashboard takes about 45 seconds to load and the mouse gets choppy while the ITM Dashboard is up. I think I am going to uninstall it, maybe even remove the **** thing as it is becoming a $40 headache.

Zenica, thanks for your replies. I am having the same problems with ITM -- I think the drivers might just still be buggy.
I can't log in with the fingerprint reader though even if the option doesn't show up. -
An odd thing, before I uninstalled the ITM software & driver, I had no "problems or issues" with hardware in Device Manager, meaning nothing had that horrible yellow exclamation point or question mark. After the uninstall and reinstall with the -UP command, I have a yellow exclamation point on the Intel ICH9M LPC Interface Controller 2919 for which I have been unable to find a driver that will take that exclamation point off.

What's ITM chaps?
I haven't had any issues with my fingerprint reader yet, unless you count my inexplicable problems with swiping in a straight line. -
LOL
ITM is the Intel Turbo Memory aka crap. -
You guys have the 2 gigs of ITM?
Here's the problem that someone pointed out to me. Apparently with two gigs you need to choose between windows readyboost and user pinning. And apparently the OEM is supposed to make this decision when they install the stuff.
"Intel® Turbo Memory Technology Cards
Designed for easy integration into systems, the PCIe* full-minicard and
half-mini interface card are available in 2 GB and 4 GB capacities. The
PCIe card features: one Intel® Flash Cache Logic chip, two Intel® NAND
Flash memory chips in parallel, and supports Microsoft Windows Vista*
ReadyDrive* and ReadyBoost* technologies for the 2 GB card. The
2 GB card, with a one-time OEM configurable option, can substitute
ReadyBoost for User Pinning; while, the 4 GB card supports
ReadyDrive and User Pinning only."
(Zenica: you pointed that out to me!)
I got my turbo memory running fine by just installing the driver without the -up, and just enabling windows readyboost. It seemed like a better option than that pain in the ***, buggy user pinning software that ran like **** and wouldn't open half the time.
Whether or not windows boots faster, I have no idea. At least it wasn't a 49 dollar headache though. -
I have the 2 gigs of ITM. I noticed that you could only have one or the other when I went into the ITM console (a program).
Maybe I will just switch to ReadyBoost until the software matures a bit.
Sounds like not too many people are having the same fingerprint reader issues, though. I might end up calling the support team this weekend to see what they have to say about it.
Thanks for all of the replies so far -
Yea, it was mebut since then learned it was my OEM that selected the Readyboost option and not a limitation of the 2Gig chip. So I got a bug up my arse to have my cake and eat it too (actually I prefer pie, coconut custard to be exact) and configure the ITM with the Dashboard and once that was working, add a 16Gig SDHC card to the reader and set that for Readyboost.
I never made it past configuring the ITM....it has more bugs than a 100 acres of grass field. I'm removing it.
