So i feel like I almost know most of you...

I know to stay away from AW after all the troubles....

And i have came to the conclusion that u guys really think sager is top of the line service/support/deal/etc/etc...

    But i need help.

I have my mind set on the NP8660 laptop.

1)Is going to http://www.sagernotebooks.com the same as going to http://www.xoticpc.com?

    1a)Is one site better/worse?

2)The intel turbo memory i have read is and isn't worth it...any insight in this will greatly help me.

2a)if i get it does it eat into my 4gb memory allowance that a 32 bit OS gives me?

3)Do these laptops come with windows 64bit?

3a) This is what i see for the OS option
"Genuine MS Windows® VISTA Home Premium 32/64-Bit Edition "

4)1 Stick of 2GB memory or 2 sticks of 1GB Memory?

5)Can i play, and work on Vista 64 just like on Vista 32 or are there still alot of compatablity issiues?

Sorry for all the questions guyz, but any and all information you can give me will be greatly appreciated...this is my first laptop and i'm trying to make sure it's a good buy. (sorry for any spelling errors)

No, Sager is the OEM, xoticpc and others (like powernotebooks) are resellers

I would argue that the reseller is better because a) its cheaper, b) You have two sources of help. The better resellers offer direct support and if something needs doing they can act as an intermediary if you need help

It has proven to be of marginal value in its first iteration, but the second iteration Intel Turbo Memory with Pinning and the Memory Dashboard holds some additional promise. Not sure if the second is available or not?

No, it does not BUT 32-bit OS will not recognize your entire 4gb...only 3gb due to memory addressing issues

    Yes

    OK

Depends. There are two memory slots. If you ever intend to increase memory beyond two gb, then 1 stick.

Two sticks gives you a marginal boost due to ddr function, but you will not notice it without benchmarking. But if you expect you will increase memory, then buy 1 so you can add later without wasting memory you already bought (it would have to be removed)

The compatibility issues were primarily driver related. Not really an issue unless you have a lot old peripherals you want to connect. Window come with many drivers, but if you have odd parts, it would be worth checking to see what those peripherals have on the manaufacturer website

    1) xotic is not the same as sagernotebooks. xotic is a reseller of sager. they resell sager's notebooks with a better warranty

1a) buy your laptop from xotic

    2) no,the turbo memory is not worth it, particularly on a computer as capable as the 8660

2a) don't worry, it does not eat into the 4gb memory allowance (and the memory allowance of vista 32 bit is 3.2 gb, not 4 gb. this is one reason why many people use 64 bit)

    3) yes, i believe that the 64 bit version will be the one that comes already installed

    4) if you're going for 2 gb of ram, get it as one stick so that you can update in the future

    5) 64 bit should be fine...almost all of the compatibility issues have gone away

    good luck buying your computer!
