    Its here! Initial impressions:

    It looks GREAT
The screen is a little dark, 2-3 dead pixels, but you cant tell easily.
THE HEAT IS NOT A PROBLEM AT ALL, ITS HARDLY WARM TO THE TOUCH
Even while running 3dmark it is quiet and NOT HOT.
Idle is dead silent, most of the time the power brick is louder than the lappy
Im extremely satisfied and think that all the recent worry is unfounded.

Temps seem to be great BTW.

I cant give pics atm, maybe tomorrow after work if im not busy, sorry.

Any questions you guys have ill try to answer, ill be fiddling with it all day at work :)

Pics are in order of AFTER/BEFORE/3dmark score--left to right.

EDIT: Also, the right palm rest hardly gets warm, it feels VERY sturdy, and the battery lasts forever. I had it on for an hour 20 mins with WIFI, no BT while DLing/intalling programs (some off CDs even)...then to drain it i put on BT, turned the screen brightness all the way up, charged my ipod, pulled files off my USB HDD (bus powered), kept installing programs, and it STILL ran another hour! Also all of those scores/temps were immediately after light use.

    Specs:

    P9500 2.53GHZ
    2GB RAM (1 stick)
    WSXGA+
    320/5400 HDD
Purchased from the kind folks at XoticPC :)

Do you mind posting your spec? I'm mostly interested in knowing what hard drive you have, seeing the temps are pretty good compared to what we've been seeing.

Also, where did you buy it?

congrats on the new system. :)

I recommend to get a notebook cooler anyways... to make sure that it does not overheat... and to extend its life.

none, I just am serious about notebook cooling... especially gaming notebooks, since most people do not know how to take care of them and come crying when their systems start failing due to overheats that can be prevented with knowledge about the recommended surfaces to use the system on (NOT laps or beds.. geez) and to regularly clean out the vents once every one-two months.

I have tested pretty much most of the notebook coolers available for the last 2 years... only a few stands out:
    - Zalman ZM-NC1000 and NC2000
    - Cooler Master Infinite (their previous NotePAL's sucked and damaged notebooks)
    - NZXT Cryo LX

One thing that puzzles me is that i thought that pressing FN+1,2, or 3 would toggle fan speeds? It doesnt seem to do anything for me.

At the moment, Clevo has not implemented a Fan Toggle for this system.

So until there is a need, then they would send out a firmware update to gain that feature.

... kind of a good sign that there is no Fan Toggle since Clevo must believe that overheating may not be an issue on this unit. :)

    Interesting thought. :)

I know I wont be able to beat great vendors like XoticPC or Powernotebooks if I get into the custom notebook selling game... but gaming notebook accessories would be interesting... :D

"Gophn's Gaming Gear" ...GGG for short... :D

It sounds like you should start with notebook coolers first!

over clock the fans and do some spray painting....

maybe someone can post a survey thread.

-who, and how many owners have dead pixels.
    -who is having heat issues.
-who thinks their purchase was worth it.
-who is thinking of returning it, and why.
-who regrets their purchase, and why.

    anymore?

Its very rare for systems to comes shipped with dead pixels.

again, if the dead pixel are in the middle quadrant, you can get a replacement at no cost.

if the dead pixel is anywhere else, you can still get a replacement, but it will cost you shipping.

Where is... the "middle quadrant"? Like, an area 1/4 the size of the screen, but centred? Hmm. Odd.

I think its always on, although it is TOTALLY quiet in idle. Although if you do something that starts to take lots of power, such as an intense program, it will kick on a little louder. The loudest i heard it go was when i ran 3dmark. It was louder than the laptop itself at times.

Do all screens divide into nine equal squares or are they more like rectangles?

Anyone think Clevo may have shifted power-regulation components from the laptop chassis to the brick to lessen the thermal load within the chassis? Is that possible?

The laptop can and does get louder than the brick after a while of being under load lol, dont get me wrong. Im just saying that when the laptop is at idle/low intensity things, it doesnt make noise. Meanwhile, the power brick is hummin away lol. So far in all the use ive done, the temps have been more than accceptable. Not once did it feel hot or have really hot numbers.

See, after seeing your temps, now I feel like my HDD is running too hot. Oh well, I'm not sending it back.

I see I'm not the only one who feels the screen is a bit too dark. Does your screen have any grain to it?

I didn't say everyone has/will have dead pixels, I was referring to the fact it seems like an abnormally high number of people seem to be having dead pixels. Isn't it normally limited to about 5%?

ViciousXUSMC I just saw your Asus G50V-A1 review, which was great. One thing that puzzles me is that how come your DDR2 memory got a score as high as 5.9, while our DDR3 memory only got score of 5.0?
