I have a Sager NP8660 with a P8600 and 4 GB of RAM running Windows 7 Ultimate RTM. For some reason, it won't go into hibernation. Sleep works fine.

When I select Hibernate, the system fades the screen and starts accessing the HD like it's going into hibernation. However, the activity stops after a while and the computer stays powered on.

I have tried enabling and disabling hibernation, as well as hybrid sleep.

Is there anything that may have caused this? The only thing I've installed recently was the nVIDIA 195 drivers for my graphics card.

Just a quick test to get a little bit more information would be manually putting the system into hibernate.
I'm not sure about Windows 7, but on my XP machine I have a batch file with this command in it:
    %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState

Probably not going to fix anything, but worth a shot for possibly gaining more information about your problem.

i had major problems with my x m15x (sorry for swearing) due to hibernation so totally deleted the file.
just to make sure its still there do a disc cleanup in system tools and check if there is a file with just over 2gb in there.
if there is then i have no idea what the problem is but but at a guess its a windows 7 thing.
if i was you i would delete it straight away and forget about hibernation.
