I get a very low sound on my recorded videos. I made sure 'record sound' and 'detect best sound input' are checked in fraps settings. Sound device is Realtek HD Audio Input, and sound input Stereo Mix. I maxed out all input/output volumes except master volume.(earbuds make the sound pretty loud even at the lowest master volume) Selecting either Mic Volume or Stereo Mix as the recording device makes no difference. Mute is unticked.

Try with external speakers if you have any. I have no problem with the sound on my M860TU.

What difference would it make? I have a problem with the recording device, not playback.

If you use external speakers (or the built in ones), you could max out the master volume, to see if it makes any difference

I'm sure that'll work, but I always have earphones/earbuds plugged in and don't want to use built-in speakers at all.(except when sharing something with others) From what I understand if all goes well what I hear in-game and what I recorded should have the same volume(at least it was true for my old laptops).

What version are your audio drivers? The latest is RealTek Audio 2.26, no harm in updating.

I noticed better and louder sound during gaming after I updated but no idea why.

Seeing there are similar posts on other forums, I reckon realtek audio has an issue with Fraps...I should've added a sound card when cutomizing it.

I think I'm gonna buy a usb external sound card. But would it improve audio quality significantly? Do you have something to recommend?

The sound is lower other notebooks I've used. Interesting...

Yes, I have installed the drivers.
