I just recently got a 8662 from PowerNotebooks, and as soon as I turned it on, there was one bright green and one black pixel about three inches off the upper right corner. Tried a lot of things, nothing worked, they're in for good. This thing was already stretching my budget so I didn't bother with the dead pixel guarantee, but there's no way I can live with the light green one after already paying so much for this, so I'm probably gonna RMA it and get another.

So now I dunno if I should include the guarantee in the next purchase, or maybe get a warranty with it since it's only $100 extra then. Basically, anyone know the chances of getting dead/stuck pixels with these screens? If I pass on it again and get another screen with a few, I'd be... really pissed. One black one off in a corner is about all I could put up with. Am I just ridiculously unlucky to get this, or is it not THAT rare, or what?

The chances of finding a dead pixel on a 147ppi WUXGA screen is uncommon, but not rare.

Have you tried tapping the stuck/dead pixel with a q-tip gently, I have seen it work before, but it can also make things worse!
