Ok,
I am having some issues getting my eSata port to recognize my drive. It attempted to once, yet crashed the system in the process. After that I restarted the computer, and tried again, this time, Intel matrix storage manager popped up, and then my system froze.
This is hugely aggravating, and I need to access the information on this drive. Please help me.
Thanks guys.

45 views and no one knows anything.
I am going nuts, I have to get to the info stored on that drive, and e-Sata is the only way I can connect to it.
I've updated the chipset drivers and made sure my Intel Matrix Storage manager is up to date, and still it just hangs there.
Either that, or it doesn't do anything at all.
Please help -
also make sure that if the HDD is a 3.5" that it has its own power, since the notebook's eSATA will not power it be itself
-
It's a western digital external hd, its plugged in and turned on.
-
Try connecting the eSata drive before booting up and see if it is recognized - if it is recognized when you connect it before booting up, then you probably simply need to make sure that you are in AHCI mode to allow for hot-swapping of eSata drives.
-
I'll retry and get back to you about restarting with it connected. -
OK, I checked this, and it's a no go. If I plug the drive in before starting the computer, it flat out doesn't do anything. No recognizing, no hanging, nothing.
Bump for some help. I will bump this thread till someone can help me out. -
Do you have another eSata device that you know works that you can use to make sure the drive itself is not the problem? Or vice-versa, do you have another computer with eSata that the harddrive that you are trying to connect works fine on?
-
If this doesn't work, then I believe there might be a fault with the devices in my system and it would need to be checked out by Sager themselves.
I will let you know how things go. -
Sounds a lot like the issues I am having. Anyone else experiencing these issues?
-
There's definitely a hardware issue here. I haven't seen anyone who has eSata functioning properly with the M860TU.
-
I know, and it's complete rubbish.
-
I'll be able to weigh in within the next few days. I ordered a RiData SSD which I plan to plug into the eSATA port and power in an alternate USB port.
-
5 bucks says it doesn't work properly.
-
lol...back you bastion of negativity! back!

Why not talk to those who can help? I would recommend contacting either your vendor's tech support or if they don't have support then contact Sager's support.
Free Sager Lifetime Technical Support is available at 1-800-741-2219 between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM Pacific Time Monday through Friday. Or you can email [email protected] or go Online at http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/rma_request.html -
Mr Stratton, have you tested eSata on any of your models?
-
I have spoken to both Sager and XoticPC, both of which claim to know nothing about this issue. Yet I have spoken to many users who cannot get theirs to work whatsoever. Either they are lying (which I hope isn't the case) or not enough users have let them know about these issues.

Something is rotten in the state of denmark:
the eSata drive most assuredly IS a powered port. I just plugged mine in...with no USB connection and it fired right up, was recognized and is now integrated with my Intel Storage Matrix Manager
I used the 32GB RiDATA SSD stick that has both eSATA and USB 2.0 connections. -

See the specs on that stick:
"eSATA bus powered: Powered from USB port, no external power or battery needed (*for use with notebook combination eSATA/USB ports)" -
Also I was being told...I had to power the device via the usb side of the stick...which also isn't the case per your quote. -

Most fascinating, GypsyDRB.
+1. -
So the 32GB RiDATA SSD works? By that I mean, you have successfully transferred data back and forth?
Please confirm. -
yeap, check my other thread...i posted transfer stats from HDTune. Most impressive.
-
Are you telling me that you got your eSata port to work, but only with a device that doesn't require external power??
I have gotten mine to work intermittently since switching to windows 7, but still ends up crashing and freezing 'My Computer' until I unplug the drive. -
Sorry haven't been around.
Yes my eSata port works and no it does not require external power...plug and go...i'm using the ridata 32GB SSD stick.
