I just purchased a Sager NP8662 via XOTIC PC and will now be awaiting its arrival. The threads on this forum really helped me in making my decision because they provided such good info regarding Sager/XOTIC/the NP8662.

I ended up going with the configuration in my signature.

Congrats, it definitely seems that that is one of the more popular configurations (see sig. ;) ). I ordered mine from XoticPC back on the 26th (payment cleared on the 30th), so I'm playing the waiting game as well! :D

Yea, that looks to be the most popular configuration and I almost went with that one until after a lot more research I changed my mind and went with the Q9000. I am still waiting for mine too.

I just received mine yesterday. I decided on the 8662 after reading extensively here and quite a few other sites as well. I was really impressed with the capabilities of the nVidia GeForce GTX 260M. I work 10 hr shifts 4 days a week so I haven't really had the chance to get into it yet.

I can say from the short time I've had with it I'm impressed. I've tried a few games last night in the spare hr I had after work and I ran Left 4 Dead and Atlantica Online at the highest graphics settings and resolution without a problem.

The only small complaint I have are the touch pad buttons are annoyingly stiff. I'd definitely suggest a mouse, other then that I'll keep ya posted.

I upgraded to the Q9000 as well. Ordered on 4/28/09, supposedly Sager got a new shipment today (5/8/09) so maybe sooner rather then later for us? Any who I'm excited to see people are actually getting their laptops so that makes me feel better :)

Same here. Ordered on the 23rd. I stayed with the stock cpu. I didnt need a quad core, and I decided the 8600 wasn't too far off from the 9600 processor, didnt think i'd see a real world performance difference.

I just re did the order to cancel vista I am just going to go with windows 7 rc1. I will run full benchmarks when it comes so everyone can see the results of it with no other operating system but windows 7 rc1

Ordered mine on the 18th. Looks like the XoticPc crew got a shipment in and are planning on putting some out this evening. Hopefully mine will be in that batch!

    I'll be going straight Win 7 RC1 x64

Yeah I just saw that post on their forums. Things are looking up! I'll also be doing the Win 7 RC1 x64. It'd be pretty sweet to say I just skipped Vista entirely.

I'm surprised how many people are going directly to Windows 7. I would, but I don't want to have to reinstall all of my programs and data once I get an official release copy. :p

I ordered on On April 10 from Xoticpc on April 10. I am in phase 2 on the way to the skinning facility. I ordered the 8700. My assumption is that for most games the GPU will be the limiting factor.

Everything I've been reading has been saying that you won't automatically be able to turn your RC1 into a release copy... Let me look for those articles...

    Hello all at NBR forum,

I want to thank all the members here for helping me take the right decision on buying my new laptop. I decided to buy Sager NP8662 after doing an extensive research in the Alienware and Sager/Clevo threads here. Got quite a bit confused between m15x and NP8662, finally decided to go with better performance and value for money :) .

Placed order at Xotic PC thru my friend in US this Monday, she called Xotic PC and got informed that it will be shipped next week. But have to wait until the end of June to lay my hands over it. Pretty long wait ...

Your assumption is correct regarding the GPU being the limiting factor in most games which is why a 2.0 Ghz Quad will still perform perfectly fine in gaming since you have the GTX 260M but also allow you to get good performance in games that have been designed for more than 2 Cores. If most games were CPU limited then I would not have bothered with a 2.0 Ghz Q9000, I would have gone for a higher clock ;)

I have been waiting for mine since the 2nd of April and it should be here this week. It is different in the UK since the shipment of GTX 260M's arrived here last. My previous GPU was a 9500M GS so I am sure I will notice a nice performance increase.

For me it was about a month from purchase to ship date (note that includes custom skinning). Keep in mind that they were waiting a shipment for most of that time. It is possible that as they ramp up production, your wait may be shorter so I wouldn't use my experience as an indicator of yours. You should talk to them to see what the current wait times are.

From what they are saying on their forums, they are going to be getting a constant supply of parts that will allow them to continue to fill orders as they get them but right now they are filling the orders that have already been placed (such as those in April). The wait times will probably be much shorter than what some have experienced as time moves forward.

Well, mine finally shipped to PowerNotebooks from Sager and they said they shipped it out yesterday, so I should get a tracking number today or tomorrow and it should arrive Friday the 15th or Monday the 18th. I ordered it on April 11, so I've been waiting a little impatiently... it's fine though, since some neat stuff has been coming out, like Crysis Maximum Edition (which will arrive Friday).
Anyway, I think I'll notice a nice performance increase over my 9-year-old computer with integrated graphics and 1 GB of RAM. :D

Mine also shipped and I'm expecting it on Friday as well.

Yeah, the only "recent" game I can get to run smoothly on my computer is Halo 1. Source engine games like HL2 do get about 14-15 fps on medium-low quality settings, which I still consider quite playable (I did try the Crysis demo once; got about 1 to 2 fps, which I most definitely do not consider playable  ).
I'm ready to have my mind blown by my new machine's superior technological prowess.

hmmm... then u should have a look at my sig! :D Havent experienced FPS probs with Solitaire yet, thankfully!

Anyway, I was able to run Fifa 2006 and SRS (Street Racing Syndicate) in medium settings and they were quite playable. I was using my old P4 PC for gaming mostly, the laptop was meant for project work and stuff when I was in college. Now that I am moving around a lot between rented apartments, I need a lappy with me rather than a desktop, for playing game or anything. I am pretty sure that NP8662 is going to be one hell of an upgrade for me! :p

Mine got on phase 2 yesterday and today it went through phase 3-4-5 aka it arrived at my door woot :D

I guess they forgot to update my order, so don't rely entirely on these.

Actually, while checking my mails for the phase 2, I just noticed they've send me the phase 4 notification this afternoon, after I received it lol
That's what I get for getting express shipping.. They ship before he's even entered phase 3!

PS. : I've beat you all and mine was ordered the 27th :p

I have been moved to phase 4 and have an expected delivery date of this Friday. I will now be obsessively checking the tracking information for any updates possible - I can't wait for it to get here.

For anyone who is worried about how long it takes to get your laptop after ordering, I ordered May 8th and it looks like I will be receiving my laptop only 2 weeks after ordering (so it appears wait times are much lower than before) - though I did not get any skinning.

I agree. I love mine. It does run a little hot (HD up to 60C). Zalman 2000 reduces temps 5 - 10 degrees.

have some news from US - due to some mismatch in the credit card billing address and delivery address, Xotic PC cancelled my order! This was probably due to some communcation gap between my friend who placed the order for me and the credit card company. Since she returns on may 31 from US, there is no possibility on making a new order. I dont want to pay for International shipping also.

now what? scratching my head ...
