    So i was playing starcraft 2 for about 2 hours tonight. Maybe more. (awesome game btw). Any my gpu got up to about 77c. The hottest it has ever gotten. Normally if i am in the Crysis map editor it gets up to about 75c. Is this too hot? Should i be worried about my gpu temps? Right now its hovering around 51c with firefox with about 20 tabs opened, aim, msn, and thunderbird. Also my setting for the game are all high with max resolution.

    Did you check your fan grill, fan and heatsink for dust? Your laptop uses one fan for cooling both CPU and GPU so it only needs a little bit of dust to make things worse.

    Could you rise up the back a bit so the fan can suck air more easily?

    Furthermore, what BIOS Rev do you use? I believe that the the fan speeds have been changed.

    Don't raise up the np8662. For some reason it ends up increasing the temperature.

    This grill is fine. I cleaned it the other day. I am not sure about the bios. I have not updated it since i bought the machine.

    77C is not hot at all! It`s a really nice maxtemp, so you have nothing to worry about.

    If you raise the laptop like an incline, it raises the HDD temp for some reason, by quite a bit actually.

    My M860TU with GTX 260M and T9900 tops at around 65c on sc2 when playing on my lap. Tops at 70c when its on the table. HDD temp on the other hand shoots in the air when playing on my lap.

    have you reapplied thermal paste at all since you got it?

    BTW, high settings and max res will give you lag/delay in the big fights, so if you`re planning on winning, I would lower the settings a bit.

    I got ~70C at a maximum as well when performing burn in tests using a lightly less powerful CPU as MC511.
    HDD turns always into a bbq in this chassis?
    As Eivind said I would also reapply high performace thermal paste and make sure no dust blocks the heatsink grill.
    You could check your BIOS during POST, press break to pause it.

    "Some systems may reach high temperatures and overheating conditions while running StarCraft II. This is mainly due to the video card rendering the screens at full speed. As a workaround, there are two lines that you can add to your Documents\StarCraft II Beta\variables.txt file to limit this behavior.

    Frameratecapglue=30
    Frameratecap=60

    The frameratecapglue controls the framerate at the menu screens. The frameratecap controls the framerate on all other screens. You may adjust these numbers to your liking."

    If you haven't done the above, I'd recommend it.

    I have never applied any thermal paste to my computer. Today i played again as well and yeah it got to 77 again, but i am not worried since its idle temp is around 50. I will try that code. But if its not high and am not that worried.

    Today it got up to 79 max. Still normal temps when surfing the web is low i guess. Low is 48 and max is 51. Should i apply some thermal compound or is it to early to worry about this?
