When I am playing games or watching videos. I turn my sound to the max ( windows and the game/video player ) but the sound is still kind of low. Is there a way to increase the volume even further?

Is SRS WOW on ? It gives you a better volume... Also note that laptop speakers are generally low on volume. You could always benefit from using external speakers or headphones. Another alternative is to purchase an external sound card such as the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook sound card. Also try and fiddle and play around with the equaliser settings.

make sure to tweak the Realtek Sound Manager options.

usually you can get better sound by setting:
    - the Environment to "Carpeted Hallway"
    - the Equalizer to "Powerful" (for higher volume) or "Soft" (for clear/crisp music)

Another workaround is to use VLC player, as it has a higher volume level than most others (if you put it up to 200%)

    Hey there,
Been having this problem as well. Solution was simpler then I thought.

Just double-click on your default windows speaker icon in the panel and make sure your WAVE bar is all the way to the top. Although, it actually makes sound too loud for me when I'm using the headphones or external speakers, so make sure you adjust it as needed.
    Cheers.

Strange. I have the opposite problem on my D901C. I have to have the volume at 3 out of 100 (or is it 99?) for it not to deafen me through my headphones. Well at least with my DAW program (which strangely apparently has a -6dB output, rather than 0dB you normally get) whereas I can go to about 10 before going deaf with an mp3 played through WMP (not installed another other media player yet.) Can't believe they've changed it that much with the new machines...

Kazaroke, do the contrary of what i said, reduce WAVE sound in windows sound options. That will balance out your volume bar scale.

    Kazakore* srry.

Doesn't seem to be an option for that in Vista, Static Space. The system tray sound icon takes you to the Mixer in Vista, and there's no WAVE option in the Sound properties in Control Panel either.

    Hey Rondo,
What if you go to control panel, is there something like Realtek HD Sound Effect Manager? If so, there should be a Mixer tab with Wave bar. Let us know.

There's a Realtek HD Audio Manager, but no Mixer tab or Wave bar.

Yeah, Gophn, I maxed out all my sounds in the Mixer. It might just be the hardware - I know on my old laptop if I turned the volume all the way up it'd nearly cause hearing damage if you were wearing headphones, but not on this one.

not sure what to tell ya.... I have heard the sound on that thing... its pretty loud.

    maybe its a software thing.

you can try to uninstall your Realtek software and install a newer/different version.
